Through an interesting bit of synchronicity this week I've signed on to do freelance reporting for the conservative website for which I've been writing editorials for a couple of years. This is kind of amusing to me, as I got away from journalism over the last 17 years after being heavily immersed in it in college. (I was the managing editor of my university's newspaper, at one point.) I've had to trot out all the old textbook aphorisms and guidelines I remember about how to write objective stories -- no small feat when you've spent the last two years or more writing nothing BUT your opinion because that's what you're required to do.

Life is funny.
