Im wanting to know if the kalasnokov (spelling) can be turned into a manual? Will it have a decent amount of blade retention without the spring? and I don't understand the whole switchblade thing. I guess I don't know the difference between that and a spring assisted knife:)

An automatic knife is deployed by pressing a button or activating a deployment device (NOT by starting movement of the blade) whereas an assisted knife is deployed by touching either the thumb stud or flipper and beginning to open the knife when the assist finishes (or assists) the opening process. Boker Kalashnikov- push a button and knife pops open briskly; Kershaw Blur- open blade 1/16th (estimate) of an inch with thumbstud and assist finishes the opening.

In my state the common test to differentiate between between (legal) assisted knives and (illegal for carry) auto is: "can it be opened via mechanism WITHOUT touching the blade?" Think "switchblade": a blade operated by a switch (button being a type of switch).

As for de-assisting I don't know. I broke a decent stiletto about 20 years ago and vowed not to fiddle with autos after that. :)

Edit: I am not a lawyer and my post is not legal advice.

You can buy them unconverted to autos. These aren't imported, to the usa, as autos. Rather converted by dealers into autos. So no reason to pull the spring out. You can buy it without the spring.
