Hey Guys,
My health is slowly improving! Finally was able to get the Scope and Testing done on my stomach. There's no Cancer, the scope looked good considering the Ulsur and Hernia. Doc says to keep taking the Acid Blockers and work on my Diet. Weight dropped to 138 there for a while. Now it's back to around 143 pounds. Biopsy was negative for nasty bugs. Which means keep on my Acid blockers for 3 months and then a check up to make sure that things are still progressing well. Add more stuff to my diet as I can keep them down. . . When I had the scope, the Doctor had to widen a constriction in my Esophagus with a balloon. I had a sore throat for a week. Other then that, it was a nice nap.
In July, I took a job at the local super market. I thought things were going well, part time left me a little time to do leather work. Case lot sales came, I went to 40 hours. My back really started complaining. I've not been doing to well in the back pain, numbness and tingling in my arms and legs. Last Thursdays trip to the Chiropractor was a Dozy. He untwisted 6 ribs, set 4 lower neck joints, 1st vertebrae, hip lower back and a ton of other things. Half of that is already out again and causing the same problems. I need a less physical job for a bit so that my back can heal.
I'm Allergic to Wheat and keep getting exposed to it at work. Skin exposure causes Rashes and Hives. Last night wasn't fun at all. 4th time in the last 3 weeks or so. Between my back and Allergies, it's time to say thanks but I need something else. Going to put in my notice today.
Long story short, starting the 23rd, I'll start doing leather sheaths again. So you know, I won't be taking on much custom work. Will offer a number of sheaths for sale each week and try to keep up a descent inventory. Not sure of the exact options yet, but they will be 3 popular ones. Sheaths will be hand cut, assembled and finished, but Machine stitched. This way, I can speed up my work, keep costs down and keep you guys in sheaths better. .
Briefly, here's what I'm thinking of offering when I come back:
*Standard Bushcrafter sheaths [Square tipped Double stitched], Pointy also, more limited production, same price.
*Standard sheaths with Firesteel loops - lower production numbers, little extra price.
*Shackle and Dangler as an upgrade
*D-ring and Dangler, might be an option, probably stick with Nickel hardware for now. I have tons of Nickel hardware
*Standard Machete sheaths, some pricing may go up. Got to run the numbers
Got to get ready for work, will post more on sheaths in the coming days as I have time and figure things out. Feel free to email me with questions.
If you have a Machete sheath on order/in progress, Sorry for the continued delays. Between work, tests, recover and all that, I've hardly had any time in the shop. The 23rd is when I really get going! I'll try to finish a batch of machete sheaths and have a batch of Bushcrafter sheaths ready by Friday the 27th.
With the Hand crank sewing machine, and working set hours [8-4 or 9-5, something like that] I should be able to keep up a steady pace. Thanks for your support! I'll keep you updated as things move forward.
