I'm an Opinel freak.

Opinels are very nice knives at a great price point!

My personal favorite is the hawkbill carbon-bladed model---very useful, and a very well-designed general purpose cutter.

ive had opinel on my radar for a while now, maybe i'll cave in and finally get one :) Lotsa great people and alot of guys that share your passion for the opinel on Blade Forums
Best of Luck to ya!
ivan
PS your sheaths look pretty darn good for being a newbie at it:thumbup: love that larger opinel in your picture, carbon steel and well earned patina:thumbup:

Welcome to the club, TINGLER. I have carried all sorts of knives over my life, but since my first brush with Opinels in 1982, they keep finding thier way inot my pocket on a regular basis.

If you're into Case as well, come on over to the traditional folders site. It's a "folksy" bunch over there.

OPINEL is a very practical and effective use knife:thumbup:

A recent programme I saw on TV was a documentary re-creating the South Pole race between Amundsen (Norway) and Scott (Britain) in 1911-12. I noticed the British team were using Opinels to fry some fresh meat as a treat.Having all wooden handles they are ideal for this purpose as they conduct no heat.

I wouldn't call myself a "freak", but I am a huge fan of Opinel knives and carry one every day in my work bag.

First time I saw an Opinel knife was in 1998 on a month-long desert survival trip in Utah. It was the instructor, a long-time desert wilderness leader, who carried the Opinel...

Let us know how much you like the Opinel if it gets really wet & won't open. Also, the lock can come open during use & slice your fingers to shreds. I have 4 Opinels & am very careful with them at all times.

Carbon blades are my favorites. They get a great patina with use.

My own love of a nice patina has caused me to almost never use stainless anymore.

I've got an Opinel no. 6 on me currently, and a no. 8 at home. I've bought several more that I've given to friends. These are my "winter" folders, with a douk douk in my pocket the rest of the year.

I used my big and sturdy Opinel 12 last weekend for cooking on a short holiday stay. It's great.

I just bought this #3 today simply because it was cute...lol

Nice, I would love one of these myself, but it seems the only way to get the smaller ones in Canada without paying through the nose for shipping is as part of the boxed sets.

Try giving Paul a call and see if he can order you some.
