And friggin' pissed off. 2 weeks before graduation from Detainee Ops at Ft Lewis and I blew my right ancle out. The doc told me that I need at least 7 months as a minimum to recover. I have to go to the hospital to get into physical threrapy to avoid having to get an operation. If I get the operation they said there is a chance I will never run again. Oh well, I have high hopes. To add some knife content to keep this a knife related post. When I got there, the commander said he didn't want any of us carrying switchblades, so I had to put my UDT away. I went to the PX and bought a Benchmade 551 like this one for $59.00

I am very impressed with it. I didn't even think of ever buying a Grip (it is the best knife the PX carried), but now that I have carried and used it hard for 2 weeks, I have no doubt in it. Everything about the knife is flawless, from fit and finish to action and edge holding. I had to sharpen it once, but believe me it got a workout first. It's funny how you find EDC's. Anyhow, I guess it is good to be home. I wish I was with my team, but everthing happens for a reason.

Mate that's no good, try & stay postive :)
I'm suprised that you were told if you have surgery you wouldn't run again. I don't have an ankle mine was fused years ago had bone graft & all I can still run that's after not being able to walk for a year.
take it 1 day at a time.
Good Luck

How'd you blow it out? twisting fracture, snap, or shatter? Which bones'd you injure? I twisted my right ankle pretty badly about a year ago, and broke my fibula (?) -- the outside shinbone that ends with the ball-shaped knob at the ankle. Broke it about 2 inches above the joint, should have had it screwed/pinned but just got a silly space-boot (lousy doc). Hope you're ok, buddy...

knife content: Yeah, the Grips are pretty nice, alright. Quite a surprise for sixty bucks, huh? ;)

Peace.
Alex.

Sorry about your injury. What ever happened to the Micarta Sebenza that you said was so great?

Sorry to hear about the ankle, dude. Hang in.

Just wondering ... you still own one of Bradley Alias knives? Still diggin' in it? I got one the other day, the Alias II, and like it much.

Also, got three Grips myself (both of the Ritters and a Cabela's mini in D2), and I can't find a thing to complain about with any of 'em, either. Very nice knives for the money, IMO.

Will probably tuck the full-size Ritter in the hunting vest this bird season ... don't really need a blade that big for anything while bird hunting, but what the hey ... you got tough, cool tools that don't weigh much ... might as well bring 'em along.

Keep the spirits up.

Sorry to hear about your injury, hope you get back to 100% soon. Keep the knife reviews coming, i enjoy reading your posts.

I traded it for a Damascus Bud Nealy Kwaito. It went to a friend, so I don't feel bad. I can always get another one.

Wear your injury with pride! You gave of yourself to keep the rest of us safe.

Thank you!

Bad news indeed.Sorry to hear about your injury.Keep your chin up my friend, said a little prayer for ya' and hopin' everything turns out ok.Indeed, everything happens for a reason. Are ya' in much pain? Probably a dumb question if it's a torn achilles tendon but hoping it's not too bad.Thank you for serving, sir.

Sorry to hear about the ankle.

Did they give a reason for the no auto ruling?

Hello USAFSP,

to the ancle: Get well soon!

To Griptilian: welcome to the Club ;)
Very good choice, Sir, but You know it already.

I can recommend an ODBTD2-version from Cabelas too, like MGF already did it.

If You like a "regular" 551 in 440C, You would love that one in D2.
