Not long ago I post a request for advice as to what I should buy on my trip to a certain knife store in Tn and promised pictures upon my return. While I purchased markedly less than I thought I would here they are;

My over all purchase (sorry for the non traditional in this pic)

Here is the big one (for me)

This is my first GEC knife and so far I am very pleased with it. I also really like the acrylic scales, normally I'm a bone/wood guy but my wife convinced me to purchase this one as it adds some variety to my little collection. I believe I will be a return GEC customer even if it takes a little longer in between purchases.

And for another first;

I've only sliced up an apple with this one so far but its a fun little knife. It weighs next to nothing and the blade is whisper thin.

Also as promised, though not as many as I originally intended to give, the photos of the museum above the unnamed knife shop.

Sorry for the terrible photos, all I had with me was my phone.

Thanks for sharing these shots! Looks like a place we all would love to visit. Great job on your purchases also. The 85 in particular is a great pattern (my favorite) and the acrylic scales on yours are pretty stunning. Lots 'o depth. Enjoy both (ok.....all three) of your new knives!!

Very nice. That's a great area. I went down there last year for a family reunion without knowing anything about the area and had a blast. My daughter still asks me when we can go to the "upside down museum" again.

Looks like a great trip! And you came home with some nice ones - I concur with the others - great acrylic on that GEC!
:thumbup:
Thanks for the pics, I'd love to visit that place some day :)

Sounds like a fun trip! And a couple nice acquisitions, which will help hold the memories. :thumbup:
What size Opinel is that?

Wow! What a great little museum. Looks like you had a very enjoyable trip :)

Nice buys. You ca see the depth of the acrylic in your pic really well. I'm expecting my first 85 pattern soon. Looks
like a real winner I the red. Nice Opinel. No. 6 ? That's my favorite and first.

Thanks for the compliments on the 85, it was between that, an ebony, or a cocobol (sp?) scaled.

Yes that is a N0. 6 Opinel which is my first as well.

As to the Museum that is a minuscule part of the over all thing. I wanted to get a ton more photos as they have and entire floor of displays like those shown, but I was on sort of a time line and had spent two hours there before even my first selection to be purchased (the GEC I might add).

I will tell you, the GEC will lead to more. But I also feel the same way about the Opinel. They just slice like no body's business! And they are much stronger than you would think!

Thank you for sharing pics. Watch out, GEC's are addictive.

I just can't justify heading down there just for the store. The mountains? Yes. Dollyworld? No! :D

thats a real nice red on your northfield. and good on you for the opinel. they are really excellent knives, elegant in their simplicity and *very* easy to get absurdly sharp. ms. wouldestous carries one because she liked mine so much.
you picked a good time to go; might have said in your other thread that i was there a few days before christmas and it was full-up with people and their stock seemed a little picked over.

You got a couple of nice knives there. Especially the Northfield is a great looking knife. Thanks for sharing your newest additions. :)

The displays (I mean the contents, of course) shown here are just great. This must have been definitelly a funny and interessting trip. Great pics!!

Looks like that 85 is more like a picture-window acrylic, over something else. Very pretty!

Awesome Jack you have there, just great!
I love the photo's of the Museum, I could spend all day in there! Thank you for going to the trouble of taking those photo's! Apart from the massive advertising huge Boker, check out the size of the slippie in the front of the case in photo 2, I wonder hwat type of knife that is, as its obviously a rope knife of some sort-but check out the top corner above the tip - the strange hump?...whats the go with that folks?
