There's still plenty of stuff to get done here at Titanic II but it's stuff that can be done gradually. Move in essentials completed so it's back to the forum. However, I'm back of dialup temporarily until they can get a new DSL capable phone line to Titanic II so it will be slow going for a couple of weeks. I am missing the speed of DSL more than I thought I would.
Anyway....This is my first pix taken in Titanic II and I've not found the right place yet. Bear with me.
top -- 15.5 inches and 17.5 ounces. This thing is called a Gaaru Dau in Nepali and a Chedok in Tibetan. I've seen this tool in Nepal but never in use so I'm not sure what it is designed to do but I know it is some particular task. Samten (more on him later) says Tibetans use this knife for butchering. Whatever it is and whatever it is used for Sher made this one and he continues to be on a roll. Excellent workmanship by Sher. Village sarki had his hands full with this scabbard but managed to get a nice one made for this particular model. Collector item. First I've seen and probably will not order any more. Add it to your collection of strange blades of the world for $145.
center -- 15 inch 22 ounce AK by Bura. Bura's usual fine work. The very nicely streaked is so nicely streaked it required a small fill by Bura which puts it in the blem category. Everything fine except handle fill (1/8"x3/4"). To get things rolling again take it home for half price -- $62.50
bottom -- 15 inch pound and half AK by new kami. Nothing wrong with the entire rig but it came back from a customer who couldn't sharpen it and he blamed the blade. Looks like he was using some factory sharpening rig not designed for khukuri sharpening. The knife has been used perhaps 5 minutes which puts it in the used category. Take it away for half price and sharpen it properly and you've got a knife that will last 100 years-- $62.50
Call (if you can -- you'll probably get a busy signal but keep trying) or email (better since I'm online right now and will respond immediately.)
Up and running -- well, maybe walking. Good to be back. Now I've got to do some catch up reading.
