I'm brand new to knives. I have some newbie questions.

Do a search for how to post pics. Basically you use use a hosting service or be a paying level member here.
Good luck and welcome to bladeforums

CRKT isn't usually a collector's kinda item, but they have a couple interesting pieces to their name and I don't recognize that particular model.

Dunno about the other one.

Sorry about your loss, I hope you get some good information about his things!

The top knife is a limited run from Columbia River Knife & Tool. Because of the limits on posting links to other sites, I'll say that if you search for "Carson M18-02", you'll find some information about it. Looks like somebody ground the serrations off, or they re-ground the blade to remove the slight recurve that some of the CRKT Carsons end up with.

As for the other, there is a "David Winston Knives", located at 1671 Red Holly St, Starkville, Mississippi.

I went to Mississippi State University and never took the time to meet Mr. Winston. That damascus piece is a small one, but, as a Master Smith with around 40 years of experience his work has a chance of being exemplary.
