I'm confused about the process for the Specials. Help Please!

I'm fairly new to the HI forum, but I've quickly become enamored with the style and look of the blades. And I love the fact that they're authentic, made in Nepal, and that the production and sales benefit the villagers.

So over the last few days I've been eagerly watching for the postings with the daily specials. Most of the time it's too late by the time I see the thread and I've missed it, but I keep watching.
On Thursday (7/19) Yarda posted about 2 with cracked handles. As soon as I saw it I sent an e-mail noting that I would take the WWII one, and then I posted in the thread. I wasn't sure how I would deal with the cracks, but for the price I thought I could figure something out. I've double checked to make sure that I sent the e-mail to the correct address, and I used himimp@aol.com as noted in the thread. I've also checked my spam/junk mail folder to make sure I haven't missed a response. But so far I haven't received a reply to the e-mail, and there isn't any indication in the thread that either of the two blades was sold.

I certainly understand if I was too late again and they were already sold, but based on previous threads I would have expected them to show as SOLD by now. If they're still available then I would have expected a response to my e-mail. So at this point I'm scratching my head. Even if I've missed out on this one I still want to try for another one in the future, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something as a result of being new to the forum. Any idea what I did wrong? Yarda? Anyone?

I think Auntie may be busy, so you might just be waiting for her to get back. If you got a quick email in, you very well may have won it. I think Terisha put up the most recent ones. Good luck!

Well that's what I get for typing the message from memory instead of double checking the name. Sorry about that!

Basically include in the email specifically what knife you want from what DOTD, your name/address and method of payment and wait for a reply to see if you got it before sending paypal.

Bric, that is exactly what I needed to know. In the link you posted there was another link to "Instructions for Ordering" from way back in 2002. You summarized the same info in your message. I did not include all of that information in my e-mail , so I'm sure that was the problem. On forums other than Bladeforums that I participate in, usually you just note that you want the item, then when the seller responds that you were first, you exchange shipping and payment info.
I would make a suggestion that the ordering information sure would be easier to find for newcomers like myself if it was it's own sticky so that it showed up right at the top of the forum. Just a thought.

Good luck! I usually copy the description directly from the DOTD thread so I get it accurate on my email.

... and don't forget to keep a pre-written "form letter" in your email drafts, addressed to Yangdu with all the required info, so you can quickly paste the description into the message and send it.
 
Good ideas. I did copy the description directly from the thread when I sent the e-mail.
And if I get as addicted to these as some of you clearly are . . . then keeping the pre-written form letter ready makes sense too.
Great, that's all I need is another "legal" addiction that requires me to continually purchase these things! LOL.

Well all of your advice helped. I sent a "complete" e-mail yesterday and received an e-mail from Yangdu this morning. Sent payment via paypal, and the blade should be on it's way!
