Maybe my lack of sleep but I need some clarification on the HEST folder. Just how many models are there? Ive read about and seen pics of many such as LE Model, Sterile, Production, Mr. DP, First Run.

Is there such as knife as the the Limited Edition sterile or are all LE models just LE? Oh my head hurts. I asked for and paid for a LE sterile but to be honest Im not really sure what it will look like....:o

Saying LE refers to the first 250. There are two versions of the LE, the Sterile(all black) and the Mr DP( with the DP design on it). The sterile is all black, no markings, except the spine has the # on it. Then there is the OD green production version.

Ok somewhere I saw a pic with of the HEST folder all black with the DP logo on the handle. That lead to some of my confusion but maybe that was an earlier production model. I like what I believe is the regular LE. I dont care for the Mr. DP version (with the Mr DP logo on the blade). I guess Im getting LE Sterile all black- somewhere in between the two...(I think).

Yeah, on the dpxgear website there is a picture of a early production Mr DP. It has the black Mr DP handle, with a black blade. I think they later added the graphic to the blade. If you look though, directly below that pic, is a pic of the actual sterile version. Should be pretty close to what its going to look like. If you want more pics go to the dpx section of this forum. RYP has posted some pics of the actual knives.

Here is what you should be getting; I think.

The top knife in this picture posted by RYP is the LE Sterile. The bottom is the LE Mr. DP.

Ok so this is called the "Limited Edition" version then-correct? This is what I was hoping for.

The LE's are the ones in the pictures in the above posts as noted.

The picture in your post is pretty much how the production model ended up looking. Green G-10 and gray blade.

I was not trying to make this a cluster out of this thread, honest. With early pics, prototype pics, and pics not labeled my head began to spin. So these are both production models, the exact same. They look different thus my confusion. Different stages of development I guess led to my confusion. I'll be happy with whatever Hest folder I get....

yeah, the top one is the original rendering and the bottom one is the actual production version.

I "think" correct me if im wrong, but the bottom pic is of the production version unfinished. It doesnt have the DPx stamp on the blade, or the Mr DP logo on the handle.

Let's not forget that another difference between the Sterile and Production might be that many might consider the coating on the LE models to be a little bit better coating material and method. Not that it matters for functionality. Debatable, of course.
