I'm confused... How are Busse, Scrapyard, and swamp rat related

I am VERY familiar with all of their knives, steels, and handle materials; I'm a big fan of all three companies. But I never understand how the three companies are related?

Jerry Busse started Busse knives, Jennifer (his wife) started Swamp Rat, and Dan (his brother) started Scrap Yard. They and their employees share shop space and crank out their own products.
