How many of you have bought a RAT knife and then wished that you had bought a bigger one? Or... wished that you had bought a smaller one?

This could be interesting!

The only RAT I've regretted is my RC-6.

Not because I'm unhappy with it, just that it's illegal to carry here and that keeps it in the toolbox.

I'll be glad I have it when I go camping or the SHTF but until then, it's a "safe queen".

Well, it isn't exactly like that, but I am just a little upset about when I ordered the RC5. Just upset I didn't order a fire kit and an Izula with it. RC-5 is my favorite RAT so far, but I want an izula and a firekit pretty badly, and wish I would have gotten all 3 of them

Both. ;)

I first bought an RC-4. I thought the handle was a bit on the small side for what I'd use the blade for, or tha blade was a bit big for the fine work the handle was suited to.

So I got the RC-6, as it's handle and blade are better for tougher jobs, and slices as well as the RC-4, as it's the same thickness.

An RC-3 is better matched to the handle size. But I don't know if I want the RC-3 or Izula.

The RC-4 got gifted to a kid that showed a lot of promise, but his family didn't have the funds for a good knife (or much else, for that matter, so he got quite a bit of my older stuff as well).

I commend you.. Very nice gesture.

I went through the same thing and now have the RC-4, RC-3 and Izula.

Between the 3 and Izula: if the larger size/weight of the RC-3 isnt a problem for your uses (like if you don't plan on carry conceiled) I'd say go for the RC-3.

So far it much more comfortable to use over my Izula and you get so much more for only about $35 more...

Its a tough question because realistically the Izula seems like it can take care of most tasks but the 3 will just be more comfy for use over extended periods of times.

What is going to be the main purpose for the RC-3 or Izula?

It all depends on your hand size. For safe and controlled use, a secure grip is an important issue. I had some Rat 3s that were totally useless for me, haven't tried an RC-3. I do have a couple of RC-4s, and they are just a bit too small for comfort.

BUT, the RC-6 feels perfect!

No regrets here, if one is too small or too big, you get the buy the next one. Soon you have them all, and start waiting for the next one (ie. H.E.S.T.) to come out. That is when you find out you have the disease. :) I need to go to a meeting now, bye.

I have a rat 3 and a rat 4 and i love them a lot. My only regret is that I can't get the funds yet to purchase an izula and a rat 5(or 6)depending what is in stock.:D

And when Tony says all, he means all...every size, every color in each size, every pommel, and multiples of each. His back-up have back-ups.
