I have a Busse Warden and a Case Sodbuster. What more do I Really need?! It's been one week and I have no other knife urges. Could this be it?? :)

It happens. One day you look at what you've got, and you ask yourself "do I really need any more knives?"

Sometimes, you even look around at it all, and ask yourself "what do I need with all this crap in my life?", and you sell off and give away most of it. Keep a few of the most used.

I only need a Buck 110 and a box-cutter, but the UPS man keeps coming with new knives every week or two.... so I would say no your not done.:)

I can go months at a time without a urge to buy. I have most all the knives that were once on my "dream list." So impulse buys are not a problem for me. It does feel good, because at one time I had knives coming in and going out at a rate of two or more per week.

My two main go to EDCs??? A large reg. Sebbie, and a non-flipper XM.....good stuff! :D

Yup--you're finished. No more knives. No more life. It's all over.
Too bad. So long and goodbye.

Whatever your lawful addiction is, place a monetary limit on the amount you can spend per week. If you "really" need/want something beyond your limit, you have to wait two weeks and combine your savings. It takes some self-disipline, but is fun also. Me, I place most all of my orders on Sunday so I've got all week to really think about how I'm going to spend my allowance and I really look forward to Sundays. Like most people, I've got multiple hobbies depending on the time of year - hunting, fishing, camping, guns, knives, survival supplies, etc. This method has saved me a ton of money over the years, and has helped save my marrige too:)

I know exactly what you mean, Lycosa. I was thinking to myself a couple weeks ago that I have not bought a knife since Sept of last year, when I ordered my knife from Darrel Ralph, which I think I got around March. I just a user, and don't need more than 3 or 4 good knives at most. I'm waiting to see what else Kershaw does in ZDP. And I have a couple other knives including my pen-light-knife combo that I want to find someone to make. It's not necessary to buy to keep up interest. I still log on here almost every day and wait as eagerly as ever for the new issue of Blade.

In all reality those two blades are probably all you will ever need, it would be prudent to have a couple of back ups, just in case something on the order of an ACT OF GOD or an ATOMIC event goes down, you'll have a spare or two. Your question has nothing much at all to do with NEED but is really has to do with WANT and to lesser degrees justification and perhaps a little guilt and doubt.

I have five knives at current down from say 40+/-, I sold off everything and consolidated to the five Missions I have now, 2 Mission MPF 1 Ti PE, 2 Mission MPS 10 Ti PE, and 1 Mission MPF 3 Ti PE. Have been think lately it sure would have been nice to keep a few of the others for myself to practice sharpening on, to tech my son how sharpen on, to tinker, work on, modify, test, etc.

Now I have five high quality knives that will probably last beyond my sons lifetime, but I don't want to tech him to sharpen with a knife of that quality. So looks like I'll be buying somemore knives.

Moderation is the key don't swing too far in either direction by havign too many (and yes there is such a thing) conversly don't sell off everything and minimize down to too few (and yes there is such a thing) Find a happy median and settle.

Sometimes I feel this way also, but then I try to separate my knives into two different categories.

1. Knives that I need or will need.
2. Knives that I just want because they look cool.

I am usually buying and selling in and out of category 2 pretty often, but I almost never mess with my knives that provide a working purpose for me.

Thanks, guys and gals!! Your responses gave me lot's to think about!! I'll be around! :)
