After nearly three years of chasing knives and related gear on Bf, I have found what I need and will be moving on to other things.
Some stuff I wanted to say before I go.
The perfect knife does not exist for me. The whole deal is the trading and research and shopping for "the one".
When I got away and looked at what I really used and needed I came up with theses items as must have:
Folding knife, flashlight, multitool, ink pen, and sharpener.
For my EDC knife I chose the CRKT M16-04. The blade is just under the 4" legal length here. Tanto style is very strong and aluminim handles
add a nice heft. Easily sharpened, but holds a good edge. The flipper is great, works as an opener and handguard. Surprised me that I would settle on this one. If they come out with the plain edge Ti version, I may upgrade.
For my EDC flashlight I chose the Surefire E1. It is insanely bright for it's size. It is tiny. It only takes one lithium 123 cell. It clips on a belt or in a pocket, it's fun. I may also add a white photon 2 for close up work.
For my EDC multitool I chose the Leatherman Pulse. The PST 2 with locking tools. My most important EDC item. I use all the stuff pretty much daily.
For my EDC pen I chose the Fisher Bullet Space pen. Small enouhgto carry, big enough to use. Writes anywhere, any temp. on most anything, for a long time.
For the Sharpener I of course chose the Spyderco Sharpmaker 204. Easyto use and will sharpen anything with an edge.
I guess that pretty much sums it up for me. I have owned knives in the $400 range and down. This is what I decided to stay with. I find it simple, usable and replaceable if needed. Your needs may be different, but I thoiugh some may find it interesting what I have chosen to settle on after "trying them all". BTW, this was not a planned thing, it has just worked out that way. Good luck and see ya around.
PS- I am not leaving, but will probably not be as active as before.
