I'm dreaming of a knife - where to find it

So I've been thinking about a kooky little knife for the last couple of weeks, and lo and behold, I've discovered I'm not nuts [well... not totally nuts anyway...] Others have thought of similar ideas. Some of them have been real close to what I'm wanting.

My thought is to have a small fixed blade knife that could be carried IWB.

I'd like a small fixed blade - about 7 inches over all, 4 inch handle, 3 inch blade. I'd like a traditional V grind blade, and I'd like the handle to appear Japanese style - wrap over ray skin [Ideally I'd like a black wrap green ray skin]. I've been debating back and forth over wether to go traditonal edge or tanto point - I'm leaning more towards traditional at the moment. I'd like it to be either a good high carbon or spring steel, or A2 would be nice. I'm thinking somewhere int eh $200 to $250 range would be fair for this, including sheath [Kydex I'm assuming would be the easiest].

So sort of like a "mini" tanto knife that I could IWB carry.

I've seen several custom makers who have made stuff "similar" but have been just a touch off on one or two things.

Does anyone know of something like what I'm tlaking about? where could one be had? I know there are several custom amkers out there who would gladly make it for me if I wanted to wait 6-12 months [and thier quality is certainly worth the wait, no argument there]. But I'm hoping that perhaps I've missed something very obvious.

This eddleman is REAL close, almost perfect and the closest by far [I'd take it if it were available], but of course it can't be had easily - They are a custom make and Mr Eddleman said he's not making any more for a while.

anyone know of another source? and also, what is everyone's thoughts on something liek this? cool, or pointless? Thanks in advance!

Ummm..... Cold Steel???
Not cord-wrapped, I know, but close.
Maybe the way to go is to find something which is 90% of what you want, with, say, a different handle, then get someone to mod it for you. This will cost substantially less than a full-on custom.

Bud Nealy has been making knives like that for 30 years, including innovative IWB and other concealed carry sheaths.

Take a look at his Aikuchis, Kinzhals and Pesh-Kabz daggers. He will make them with traditional wraps in addition to G10.

Dave Farmer has done some really nice japanese style full tang w/ wrap deals at around 115 dollars. I don't know if he's done any pure tantos, but he has some great Japanese-esque drop point models that he's sold in the Maker's section.

I have one of his Real Deals in L6, and it's a perfect EDC blade. Incredible edge retention and just super sharp. Has alot of strength as a mid-carbon steel, and once it forms a healthy patina, the stuff never rusts. He's a great guy to work with, very skilled and reputable.

Hi sns was wondering if you found the knife you were looking for. I am a knifemaker new to this site. So I'm. Sorry in advance if I do something wrong. You may be interested in a piece I have. A friend of mine posted it on the handmade section under the title pocket katana. TMHunt is who I am. Let me know if I can help you out!
