To Spyderco knives, especially the PM2's. I'd have more of them if I had more "disposable income".

I've been dealing with "essential tremors" for 1`1 years, and although they're controlled a bit better now, the only opening systems that work well for me are some flippers or a Spyderco with the large, prominent Spydie-hold like the PM2. And there are so many steels and grip options within just that model. It's probably more knife than I need, but despite being in my early 70's I've never owned a brand/model of knife that's so satisfying to me.

Thank you Sal and crew, I couldn't quit you if I wanted.

Welcome to the Spydie addicts club! 🎉

But did you know that there's a Spyderco Forum on BF & that Sal is the moderator there?

See: The Spyderco Forum

If so, you might want to cross-post your thread (or ask a mod here to move it) there where Sal will see it because AFAIK Sal & his crew seldom hang out here. 🤷

My addiction to knives in general has gotten worse over the years. “Worse” as in “awesome”. I buy new ones fairly often and will sell some doubles now and then in order to make room for new acquisitions. I have my favorite brands which I tend to stick with (Spyderco , BM , Microtech , CRK to name a few). But I’m also interested in trying new (to me) brands. Just got a couple Reates and I couldn’t be happier with them.

So this addiction is one I plan on having for the rest of my life.

I too suffer from S.A. I have I PM2 DLT special addition, a K390 Endura and Monday I will have a Military 2 arriving.

I'm not familiar with the term "S.A." - mind telling me what it means? That might help when I finally get to see the neurologist. If it's what's wrong with me, they often don't tell you that it also affects the tiny muscles in your lower back that are constantly working to tweak your balance. I've broken both shoulder blades by simple tipping over relatively light motorcycles while stopped when I got my foot trapped under them until it was too late to re-plant that foot. You just don't register the lack of balance until it's too late to do something about it. Once the motorcycle (or auto) is moving, there's no problem because, I think, you're actively managing balance. That hasn't affected my driving at all, but if it ever does I'll ground myself.

I've been eyeballing the Military 2. I had written off the Military as I strongly prefer carrying "point up" as it wasn't drilled and tapped for that, and IIRC it wasn't offered in steels I liked that much. It's bigger than I think I need, but with a knife you never know for certain what that need will be. I have a Matriarch in my Jeep for times I'm going someplace that prohibits firearms. It will probably never be used - I hope.

Absolutely love my PM-2 in Cruwear with the canvas micarta scales - but they're bound to get nasty-looking over time. At first I hated the feel of it, it felt "slippery", but I grew to love it. Because of a friendly disagreement about steels I read here, I decided to buy another PM-2 in S90VN with the much harder carbon scales. Love the steel and the knife, don't care much for the scales. Is there an aftermarket maker of the micarta scales of my other one, or should I contact Spyderco for that? I like having a similar knife as backup as not every day are my hands steady enough for sharpening. I've had a bad run since I fell and crushed my L-1 vertebra in September, so my knives are embarrassingly dull right now (at least by my standards, and probably yours as well). Maybe I'll catch a good day soon and can get them up to snuff, I hate a dull knife and always have.

BTW, per Sal's advice I contacted Spyderco customer service to buy replacements for some clip screws I'd lost, and they were able to find the proper inses for those I'd lost somehow out of the "CruCarta". They even added an extra one and there was no charge! That's customer service! It isn't their fault that I failed to notice them loosening, but they made things right for free anyway. Thus, the addiction is getting worse.

I've worked either as an underground coal miner or a mine surveyor for half of my life and nearly always spent a lot of time in the outdoors fishing, hunting or trapping; thus a good, sturdy sharp knife has a great importance to me.

I to suffer from S.A.
However they all work for me. Welcome to the club !

I have never had a Spyderco knife ~ I am well aware of the quality and loyal following but I never have been able to like that big round hole ~

Or the fat leaf shape. The nightstick (why?) Has a hole on it, just because it's spydercos motiff and it's in a really strange spot
