What can I expect from CV steel?I have 2 Case knives in tru sharp and the steel is ok for EDC.How is the edge holding compared to aus8,and vg10?Sharpening should be easy I guess!(I am only getting this untill I get some Queen and GEC knives that I like ,unfortunately theyre not in stock anywhere;( ).

CV sharpens a hair easier than TrueSharp. In use, and edge holding, I doubt you'll ever know the difference.

As far as I know, I only have a couple (modern)folders in Aus8(Ontario RAT 2, ESEE Zancudo). I'd say the CV is, again, a touch softer(And my Aus8 I'd call identical to TrueSharp in use). And again, I doubt you'll ever notice any difference in use between the three. No idea about VG10.

CV is supposedly 0170-6, which is 1095 with some other stuff added. It will sharpen and hold an edge just fine.

Case CV is not 0170-6.
KaBar 1095 Cro Van does have the same composition as Sharon 0170-6. KaBar has it custom made.
Both are 1095 with minor additions of Chrome and Vanadium.
But 1095 CroVan (0170-6) has minor additions of Nickel and Molybdenum as well. CV does not.

I notice that CV holds an edge a bit better than TruSharp.
My knives in AUS8 blade steel tend to hold an edge better than CV, primarily because my AUS knives are hardened to a 59HRC. Case runs CV a bit softer than that.
