I'm getting my first Buck

Well, I'm excited now. I'm getting my first Buck, a 111. I've been wanting a Buck since the first time I saw one-my scoutmaster had a Buck fixed blade- but over thirty five years ago it was way out of my price range. :D

So after all these years, one is finally on the way.
 
...Is that the "old" 111 or the "new" 111??...I just know there is no way I could own one of the "older" 111's without scratching it up totally in the first week or so...:rolleyes:

I hope it's not a case of mistaken identity...like that guy who bought the sheath thinking it was an actual knife... :rolleyes:

It's a new 111-Ironwood folding Hunter. Did I refer to it wrong?
 
:) ...No you didn't refer to it wrong at all. It's just that there is another 111 floating around that was made a few years back with aluminum scales. I love that new one you've bought...It's definitely a keeper..I believe there are a few folks here who know quite a bit more about the "old" one than I do...:thumbup:
 
Thanks for the photo. I did read the threads on the old one, but I really like the wood and nickel look of the new one.
 
Gmountain, Welcome to BF,and the Buck Forum, Great choice for a new knife, I've got 4 different new 111's, the frames have a little more flair than the 110's.
DarrylS, what's the tang stamp on your 111?
 
...I agree with you on that. I also love the "wood n metal" of the new 111...:thumbup:
 
...Scott...I don't have on of the old 111's...I "zinged" that photo from one for sale on "fleaBay"...I use most of my knives and I just know I'd trash that older 111 pretty quickly. As a collector I guess I s_ _ k...LOL...
 
is it 4 model 111's so far the 'old' aluminum , the ironwood , the plain with idaho cutout in blade , and the Le stag ?
 
There are several older 111's from the early 1980's, and at least 4 newer 111's. The top 4 are newer, bottom is a 1980.

I'm not sure how many 111's have been issued; someone here must have that info:confused: . Here is a pic of the two in my collection. gmountain you will love the Ironwood 111 good pick for your first Buck knife:D .

the top three i know the le stag, and the ironwood, and the plain with cutout, and the bottom two the aluminum, and the titanium but the other 3 i am unsure of is the middle one the cabelas alaskan guide ?anyways thanks for the info and pics:thumbup:
 
hi jb those are nice espescially the matched set of stag and that snakeskin one is a full custom rather than a buck custom shop i assume ? and you are right i have a few of the ironwood and i really like them hoping to get the le stag soon
 
The fourth 1 down is a 111 given to employees with nickle silver bolsters and fibron handles, sixth 1 down is the BCCI fundraiser knife from last year, S30V and honey worm groove bone handles, and a few got the nickle silver frame; and the rest of them you know.

The rattle snake skin custom is a Painted Pony proto type from Micheal Prater.

thanks scott those two i didnt know about its a shame to because i would like one especially the bcci fundraiser too bad i missed that one
