Although a long time member here, I dont post much but I do read up a lot and whenever I posted asking for some advice, people have been very gracious.
Because of that I wanted to share this with the forum, having achived what I guess is a long term dream of any knife enthusiast, to get your knife produced (or ar least ONE of the ones in your head that has been living there for years!).
So after a few close calls I finally contacted Aitor and we go along very well. I'm now testing my blade, before getting the first production run.
This is just a discarted blade (uneven bevels) but its good enough for testing the steel (Bhöler N690) and heat treatment. So far so good, and the steel is everything I read it was supposed to be here. Holds a mean edge very well and its a piece of cake to sharpen.
Anyway, this is the knife, minus the canvas micarta handle. The paracord is just for testing. Put it through a lot of rope, batoning, chopping some firewood, took it all without any chipping or damage. Ten strokes later with a Victorinox ceramic rod its cutting paper and shaving hair off my arm again.
