Whenever i go on to the list of forums off of the Bladeforums homepage, the yellow lights beside the different forums indicating whether or not there are new posts is missing most of the time. Then , when i enter a forum, the most recent posts are from the 20th of july. Then if I go back to the list of forums and back to the forum that i was trying to read, the dates are correct. However, if I try to read a topic that contains 4 replies, I open it and there are only three on my screen. If i go back to the list and re-enter the topic, the missing post is now there. The topic I amn reffering to is "Leatherman Wave blade lockup" on the general forum. Please help me and feel free to e-mail me if you need more info.

Just because I talk to myself doesn't mean I'm crazy. What's wrong with getting a second opinion?

What browser are you using? Sounds like AOL.....

Try deleting your cookie for the first one, that may solve your problem. You can delete your cookie by clicking on the preferences link and following the options there.

Sorry Spark, deleting the cookie only made it worse. It seems to be that the site showing what was there the last time I logged on, like its not registering the time in between. Hope that helps.

Ok, sounds like you've got some really screwed up cookies.

Print this page so you have the directions handy.

Close all your programs, including your browser.

Do a search on your computer for "cookies.txt".

Delete every instance of it.

Shut down your computer and reboot.

Search again for it (you never know, sometimes it reappears). If it's gone, come back here, reset your preferences, and go to town. The next time you come back you should be good.

It still doesn't work. I deleted every cookie I could find and then used the "Find" feature on the Start menu looking for "cookies.txt". The search found nothing, I had gotten them all. Do you think if I downloaded Netscape or Explorer 5.0 it would help? Sorry to keep on bothering you like this, I just can't seem to find the problem.

Ok, step by step.

Which version of IE do you have? If it's older than 3.2 then that may be your problem, you'll need to upgrade.

When you deleted every cookiefile, did you search for hidden files? A copy of your cookies may have been stored somewhere else.

Short of that, I'm not sure what to tell you because if you are still having trouble after following my instructions properly, then something is wrong.

You did shut down your browser before you searched for cookies, right? When you rebooted, did you search again? Did you search all of your local hard drives?

Ok, I finally found the problem. My brother downloaded a program to speed up our internet connesction called netsonic, when i disabled it everything went back to normal. I'm sorry i wasted so much of your time.

That would do it.

Programs that "speed up your internet" connection really only visit all the links on your pages and cache them in your browser, so that it appears that they load instantaneously. They don't actually work faster, they just utilize your phone line better. For BB's like these, they don't work well at all, since they don't compare pages properly and often leave the old page instead of downloading the newest information.

Thanks for responding with what had happened.
