my wife and i been together for over 20 yrs and god has givin me and my wife the chance to become a mom and dad, due in september. it has been long awaited. it will be our first. yesterday was my birthday and i was givin the best gift ever when my wife told me she was pregnant. for almost 20yrs it looked as if it would not happen for us. and i would always tell my wife that when god thought it was time, that he would grant us the ultimate gift. and it has been granted. we both could not be more happier:D

Congrats! I became a dad 10 months ago. It really has been the high point of my entire life.

Congratulations! Your life is about to change. Take the advice above and sleep as much as you can before the child is born. You'll be amazed at how little sleep you will get later....of course it's all worth it though.

Congratulations, Dad!
You've just been promoted to a life-long position!

Congrats B.C.
It is life long, but what a great position to be in!

I entered the club about 6 months ago.

Get a high speed camera if you can afford it. The best poses are hard to catch on a 1 month old.

Get a Costco sized package of baby wipes. It lasts for months and is worth every penny, along with a electric powered diaper pail (keeps down odors). I thought it was a silly item at first. I'm glad to have it now that the stink is kicking in. ;)

Oh and be prepared for all sorts of dorks giving you advice.

congratulations. As an "older" parent of (almost) 5-year old twins, I can tell you it's a life-changing event. The best one possible.

Here's the first one... :)

If you will be using baby formula, go down to the store and buy the absolute cheapest can of it you can find. When our kids were babies it was Carnation Good Start. Show the can to your pediatrician and ask him if he thinks it's good nutrition. He will probably give the green light. Buy that brand because the big name brands are very expensive and those cans add up to a lot of money.

Also, to properly bond with the baby... even though you're a man you have to feed and wash the baby, and change poop diapers too. Hold the baby at every opportunity and put her to sleep on your chest while you watch the tube. You will be Father Of The Year.

Congrats! Costco will be your friend. They have about the cheapest wipes (they are good too, stronger than any I have found) and diapers are cheaper too. They also have their brand formula as well. As for being old, I have got you beat I am 48 and have a 5yr old daughter and 1 yr old son. That said It is worth every second! Enjoy! Steven
