Hi all
As you all know I live in Taiwan. I have been wanting to gat my hands on a belt grinder for a while. as there are a large variety of 36" ones around, i was considering one of these. but after all my research ( I have 7 books on knifemaking ) - never made a knife

I have realized that i need something like a Burr king or Baders knife grinder. unfortunately they are not available in Taiwan. So I have decided to have one made to my specifications. however although I have an idea I am not sure exactly what I should ask to be added to this project. I know I am going to need a platen and contact wheels. what about any special attachments ? anyideas here ( or pictures ) What of these hollow grind "rig" I hear of ? Where do they go. So if anybody can please help me to come up with the dream grinder, without blowing the pocketbook.
Thanks
Justin H

Justin -
Don't dismiss the 4"x36" belt grinders - I have a friend who makes really good blades on one - OK so they don't have the horsepower of a Bader or a Burr-King but they will do the job.

Andy.
