I got a cool idea last night. I have been thinking for awhile about getting a fixed blade salt for my kayak. The aqua salt might be nice but it's discontinued and I was having a hard time getting excited about the new enuff in h1. It's size is great, but I don't care for the sheeps foot blade shape at all. I like a sharp tip on my knives.

So....I got an idea. I think I am going to buy a h1 enuff and grind the spine 45 degrees down to the tip and make something very similar to a small fixed blade yojimbo. I think it will look ok and should be very functional. Any thoughts?

Go for it! Just grind slow and quench often. Post pics when done.

I like the plan!

Also, if you've stumbled across any sunken treasure while you're out in the kayak... there's always another option for you... might be at a certain website you've "ben" "to" before. I like "box"es, and "shop"ping.

There's something wrong with my " key.

I'm not very knowledgeable about blade modifications, but I think this would look sweet if you pulled it off! good luck!

I saw them on sale for $59 a few days ago and that's what made me think of it. I figured at that price it was worth the experiment. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to actually GET one for that price, but now I'm stuck with the idea in my ahead and you know how that always ends... :)

I wish they'd offer all of the Enuff's blade shapes in H1. Both serrated and plain edge would be nice. Definitely go for the mod, your pacific salt looks fantastic!

Plans got side tracked thanks to one of the awesome members over here. Someone still had a brand new aqua salt and they were kind enough to send it to me for a normal price. :). Soooo....I'm going to save my money for the moment and hold off on the enuff. Fwiw though, I started a similar thread over on the spyderco forum and a couple of the other members got involved and did some photoshop mock ups and it looks pretty cool. I would love to see someone else give it a shot since I'm not going to for now. Just search for "enuff regrind" over there and you should find it.

Yes sir. It's the black serrated model. I've been needing a good fixed blade knife. I don't have any other than in the kitchen. I am going to rig something up so I can clip it straight on to my kayak.

Your going to like it! I picked up one of each when they were being discontinued. Very practical fishing knife.

I have the exact same one, its a great knife for fishing !

Pair that one with a Southfork and you are a few steps closer to world domination. :D

I think the Aqua Salt is going to make you forget all about the Enuff regrind. I'm still trying to figure out why it was discontinued.

H1 isnt Heat Treated

Yeah, it's "work hardened". I don't exactly understand the process, but I believe it occurs during the grinding process. Not sure if that is related to the heat created by the grinding. Would be interesting to know if regrinding a blade would affect the hardness.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea Lance. I look forward to seeing how it turns out. As for the heat treat or lack there of, its still good to quench often when grinding as it could still cause it to warp as well as damaging its work-hardening. Just take it slow and steady so you don't heat it up to much and your all good, I did a similar thing to a benchmade I have.
