I'm gonna do it...venture forth...with only a simple jack knife.

English jack that is. Personally it looks a bit like a granddaddy barlow to me, but what do I know? Northwoods named it an English jack, so that's what I'm going to call it. It's a big heavy brute at 4.75" closed.

I'm carrying it to show the Pemberton partisans that it is possible to carry a proper sized knife without your pants falling down. The secret is a good belt made of thick, strong leather. If you want you can also throw it in your jacket pocket, it is winter after all.

I just hope I don't throw my back out.

:p

You'll throw your back out with that monster. I wouldn't recommend it. Besides, what do you need a knife for anyway? Don't ya have keys?

Excellent effort.Beautiful blade.Rescue team on standby.Over.

You should put one in opposite pocket, just for balance and stability :D (it's starting to blow here )

It's a beauty

Keys...the original multi-tool. They work, but I want something with a little more style, more panache. If this experiment doesn't work I might go back to them.

I can't carry another knife. That would be cheating. Maybe I can throw a brick in the other pocket for extra ballast.

Good on ya, Christian! I'm putting my EJ in pocket right now for solidarity. Shown with a penknife for comparison effect.

dont guess i have an english jack but i *was* born and raised in places where the hills turn into mountains. i therefore have one leg longer than the other from all the uneven ground. i live in a comparatively flat place now so i carry a weighty sunfish pattern knife on the longer-leg side for balance so i dont walk in circles.
would an english jack work also?

It will make a fine pocket companion!

I regularly carry both single and double blade Grandad barlows in that same size.

One of my favorites is a Queen Grandady that I sadly dropped twice in the same parking lot, and cracked the lovely sawcut orange bone handles on both sides.

I don't find the grandads heavy at all.

That thing is a beast... You'll need a Kevlar-lined pocket to contain it's massive size!

Report back with results tomorrow :)

Nice looking knife btw

I don't know, Christian. Maybe you should pull that thing in your wagon! :D
Your chiropracter (sp?) would be happier!

You're gonna need a scabbard for that broadsword (preferably with a secondary tie down strap, just above the knee) and maybe a shield to complete the package. Accessories make the man, after all. ;)

She's a looker, fur shore !

Good on you! I grew up with a guy that carried a case toothpick, pocket watch, wallet, challenge coin, big switchblade, bandana, matchbox, sewing needle, p38, Chapstick, and a Colt python. He carried that setup everyday he'd been to war and grew up dirt poor. It works for him and that's all that matters, he's 76 now and hasn't changed. If your happy I'm happy, that knife your carrying is a sweetheart.
Respectfully, Chance.

^^^^^^^^Yes, what he said^^^^^^^^^^ So many people carry around so many things--nail clippers, flashlights, cell phones, pocket pistols (or bigger), thick wallets, tactical pens, 318 keys on a retractable leash, chapstick, lipstick, 3 kinds of wax for their handlebar mustache, comb, sunglasses, and then a hankie to keep all that stuff from falling out of their pocket when they sit in their car. If that knife is all you're carrying, you've got them all beat.

Thanks for the support guys, I appreciate it. Here's a picture to help put things in perspective. The EJ is on the left. The knife on the right is a GEC#73.

I got tired just looking at that thing!

Carl, Grand High Muckba of small light weight things.

C'mon Carl, your granddad carried a folding cleaver. This 'lil jack doesn't even compare.

Wowzer.

I vote you forego the belt. Live on the edge, and all.
