It was love at first sight. I didn't really know about this pattern till the other day and I ordered one. I believe this is MY pattern. I need more saddlehorns. Of course this post is useless without pics. Wife destroyed the digital camera so crappy cellphone pics will have to do.

This is a small Case Saddlehorn in caramel bone. 3.5"

Congrats of finding the pattern  This means you will get more same pattern from different manufacturer, different blade steels and different handles.... :D I am slowly confirming that GEC #85 and its variants all seem to be MY knives. They might even bump my Canoes and Queen small Dan Burke barlow from my favourite knives of all time...

I don't have Saddlehorn myself but I like curves, balde profiles and way the entire knife looks, closed or open. I like that caramel bone very much. You got some beauty in there

Nice score, Brasso3! I didn't know Case made one with a federal shield. Good looking knife!

fes, that ebony looks great too!

I have a couple Saddlehorns myself. Both from Case. This Navy Blue Bone that my wife picked up for me and an Ocean Blue Bone that I have no pics of.

I like 'em too. The caramel bone looks great. Here are my three, a Case and two imports.

Pssst. The #85 is my pattern as well. Love it!

Great Saddelhorns everyone. I imagine it must feel amazing in hand. With all those curves...

Lovely knives all of them...i must say that i noticed my knife doesnt have the larger centre pin??.(Cases) ..can anyone elaborate?? ............FES

Fes...forgive me if I am wrong, the Centre Spring pin is SLIGHTLY bigger? Also, as we know you and I own one of these SFO's and the pull is relatively soft...would this determine the smaller sized pin??? ( sorry if this sounds silly )

...Yessir slightly bigger..but not domed?......FES

Spun Rivets or not I think doesnt really make a difference, this is the good thing about our great place here in Bladeforums... who can help us with this?

Who can help us Kiwis here?

This was the one from the RIT dye thread a couple of weeks ago. I can't tell how disappointing it was to open up the box and find my "black " knife was really the colour of a dead tongue.
Now however it is superb. You can sorta see it in this pic with its compadres for comparison.
Jeff what is the scale material on your wharncliffey?some kind of horn?
cheers.

Meako, the Wharncliffe mod is on a ram's horn handled knife, Ocoee River brand. Same 3-1/2" size as the Case.

Making a guess here: Your knife is in Ebony so domed pins on a flat material would be unwelcome. The others are jigged bone so they have irregular surface.

The other possibility is that my Saddlehorn has the magic letters TB stamped on the tang followed by 6.52110. This means it is a CASE/Bose knife (not a collab though) in their Bonestag scale. This one is VERY deep and gnarly. The Swayback Jack also has TB on the tang, it too has 4 pins unusual for a CASE and like my Saddlehorn it has 2 small flat pins and 2 large domed pins. Maybe this is the connexion?

Very fond of this Saddlehorn, it's a rather rare breed, pity as the flintlock pistol style handle (Barehead on mine) is very good to hold.

Thanks, Will

The saddlehorn was one of those I wasn't sure I'd like...but I was wrong, thankfully :D

It's gone to some Scouting events and worked perfectly, got a lot of comments too.
