Does anyone know what the value of a 2002 Cabela Pro-Gold Buck 191 is? (The blade is gold, not stainless). And how many were made? Thanks in advance to all you manly guys that know your knives. ;)

Well, I'm a manly guy but probably know as much as you do about knives. So I wouldn't say "I'm just a girl". ;) But I know you didn't mean it in a demeaning way. Guess I'm sensitive about this because I have a 14 year old daugther and I support her in anyway I can. I always let her know she's just as capable at anything as any guy. I'm always cheering for the female on Fear Factor. (Monday nights at 8pm, NBC)

Girl Power! You go girl! :)

I was only teasing, but would love the help, if anyone has any info. Your an awesome dad for your daughter. She's lucky to have you!

thanks Goodapples, I knew you were just kidding. I grew up around women, always seemed to work with women, and now I have a wife and a precious daughter!

BTW, how did you acquire that knife? I'm just getting into Buck knives myself, and I have a Buck 110 from Cabela's. They used a higher grade of steel on the Cabela 110's.

Well, I'm sure more info will be on the way! :)

Gary,
It was given to me by a banker client who was also a hunter :) Thanks for asking, don't know nuthin' about knives, but it sure is sweet.

Maybe a collector who specializes in Bucks will pop up here and give you a good answer, but my uneducated guess is that it probably has more value as a gift from a friend than as a collectible.

Thanks, that's more than I found. No, I have the 191. It looks exactly like the 191 on the Buck website, except the blade is gold.

Is the handle of your knife wood grained, stag or a rubberized version? To bad you couldn't post a pix.

Apples,
Call Cabela's 1-800-237-4444, they may still have info on the knife in their database. I just picked up the Buck 110 in their Alaskan Guide line and it is the nicest 110 I've ever owned.

not sure on the real answer, bit if memory serves, the "gold" color of your blade was a nitride coating. Buck sold several models this way, but yours may have been a special deal for Cabelas.
Best thing to do would be to use the email spyken posted...
Good luck in your quest... and don't mind too many of the maladjusted comments some of us may leave... knives aside, we're mostly harmless... ;)

All of you gentlemen are terrifically helpful. Cabela's was not. I've sent an email to Mr. Houser and will await his response. Thanks, again.

Email received. Info helpful? :)
FYI, Cabela's offered the Zipper and Vanguard in either camo rubber or wood. They had Ionfusion coated blades with Cabela's Pro-Gold printed on them. This was an exclusive line for them and the knives came with a lifetime of free sharpening.
Hope this helps,

Mr. Houser, I believe that this is exactly what I have. Does the info from your email still hold true, then?
