From left to right:

1. Original wooden Inca dagger my grandma found in her attic and gave to me for christmas (She also gave me an Inca spear, bow and three arrows as well. I lost one of the arrows in the christmas tree that year (I shot it into the tree and couldn't recover it...bummer)).

2. Finnish bone-handle knife. About a 2" blade; I keep it in my tackle box just in case (you can never have too many knives!)

3. Finnish knife; was a souvenir from my trip to Finland. I used it while surfcasting one year and rusted the blade up. After registering here I realized it needed some cleaning up and got to it. Cleaned, Polished and Sharpened = can you say kickass?

4. Ka-Bar Rigging Knife given to me by my grandpa, a retired Naval Officer. I take it he used it during the service, and that leather sheath he made himself (cut the notches with the blade and used the knot-lossening device as an awl to punch holes for the thread). It actually went missing for some time and I was extremely bummed. About 2 years later it turned up underneath the seat cushions on the living room couch!

5. Some Chinese knife my other grandpa brought me back when he travelled to China. It actually works pretty good. The American Patent Number on the blade is bogus...did a google search and nothing of relevance came up. I think the handle is artificial bone?

Left to Right:

1. Smith and Wesson 'Pocket Protector' knife I bought for merely clipping to my waistline and cutting fishing line when necessary. Paid $15 US for it, it's actually pretty sharp. I decided I liked it so much that I'd buy a second, but every other one I handled was extremely dull :(

2. Swiss Army Officer series. I've had it since the 3rd grade (am grade 12 now), and it has faithfully served me all these years. This and that Ka-Bar rigging knife are almost always my daily-carry knives. Great knife

3. Your standard SAK with a blade and nail file. Oh, tweezers and a toothpick, too.

4. Same as above (I own two)

5. Same as above (again!), except it is black instead of red and it also has scissors. Oh, and the tweezers and toothpick have gone missing.

6. Swiss Army 'Butcher' knife. I'm not sure if this was really made; I think it might have been ordered by a rpivate party (ie: have SAK write text on the knife). The only text present says "BUTCHER AND PACKER SUPPLY CO."

NOT PICTURED: An SOG Hunter Revolver I'm getting for my bday....SCORE!

Sorry for the big pictures, but they help show detail I think.

Well, that's it. Hope you don't feel I wasted your time there :)

That Chinese thing is an eyesore! Get as far away from it as you can!

But otherwise very nice.

hehehe...it's working ok (so far). Only time will tell...although I have quit using it lately

Gubby, very nice collection ! :D You never waste time when your looking at knives or fishing..........

Very nice Ka-Bar rigging knife !

I put my Grandpas knife up because I was afraid I would lose it and never find it, that was twenty years ago.

I still have it and plan to pass it down to my boys. ;)

You should be proud of this collection. :D

Robbie Roberson ;)

P.S. Did you try typing the patent # here......

That Ka-Bar is nice indeed. I'm planning on passing it down to my kids (which is way, way forward in the future), and I've been thinking about buying another just to make sure I don't lose grandpappy's. The only thing I didn't like was the serrated blade on the newer ones.

awww shoot, I guess ka-bar doesn't make the rigging knives anymore. I found the picture of the rigging knife I was *thinking* of when I mentioned the seratted blade and it was something else. That Davis does look interesting...I also checked ebay and there is a ka-bar on there. I'll keep watching around for a week or two and then make up my mind. thanks for the help, too
