Broke it when I was a kid, opps. Been trollin ebay for a while, no luck
Fred Bear the bow hunter fyi.
Any ideas on what it was or where to look would be great.

Just got sniped on a Ka Bar 2704 on ebay 10 secs before the close. Man I hate snipers.

I have no idea who made the knife you are looking for, most makers made LB7 type knives, both here and overseas. You might email Buck and see if they know.

As for snipers, the guy who won paid more than you were willing to pay, so I don't see the problem? We call it sniping because they enter their bid in the last seconds of an auction, but he would not have won if your reserve bid had been higher. I get outbid all the time, but never on a knife I value more than anyone else. I do sometimes regret not bidding higher, but that is fair according to the rules of the market, IMHO.

thanks pompano, not quite the style i want but i will be sure to look for more of that brand.

No Codger, sniping is fair according to the rules of THAT market, but it is not FAIR. Consider in a real auction the " going once, going twice, "
That doesn't exist on ebay and thats why ebay sucks(that and anti-gun)

go to http://www.gunbroker.com and look at the 15 minute rule.
THAT is fair. Sniping is not only unfair to people like me who happened to be at work when the auction ended but unfair to the seller because I would have payed more if given the chance.
I left my bid as it was because it stood for 6 days and some hours with no other bids.
I hope he cuts himself with his stolen knife. Then I hopeit slips out of his bloody hand and it sticks him in the toe and he jumps and knocks over a lantern and catches the hunting cabin on fire but can't open the door cause of the blood on his hands where he cut himself and burns the hunting cabin down with all his drunk buddies in it. Thats what they get for being friends with a thief.

Ouch! That is a lot of anger over a knife! Well, best of luck to you on the next one. When we bid on eBay, we play by their rules, win, loose, or sniped.

I buy and sell on Ebay and I just figure if I play in their yard and use there ball, then they can make the rules.Chill out, I bet that knife style shows up again in time.Is it worth losing a forum friend over a knife.Arnold

Yeah, I've been sniped, and sniped. Part of the adventure. I usually figure a price will sit for most of the auction, then the action will get heavy towards the end. I just missed something I wanted today while at work because I didn't set my max bid a bit higher. That was my own fault. I usually figure if I truly get sniped it was because the other guy played a better game than I did. Honestly, getting a knife for a good price is only part of it. Getting it for a good price in the heat of the last minture flury is exciting and fun.

If I know I'm going to be away when the auction ends, then I just determine the max amount that I'm willing to pay, enter that max, and adjust myself to the idea that I will either get it, or not. And I deal with it either way. Like today. I wish I'd put just a little higher max bid on it. I thought about it, but decided not to. The winner was only one increment above my max. Growl, yes, but it was on me, not the winner. I hope they enjoy the knife as much as I would have, or more. Btw, it was a Queen, Delrin winterbottom canoe. The gal that made the first bid came back and made the winning bid.

who is gonna loose a friend? just statin the facts the way i see them about ebay. none of that was directed at anyone here.

There are 3 similar knives on there right now and they are all by the same seller at the same time so I cant get sniped on all three! Strategy!!!

hi,hey mr. amos iron wolf was the queen you were bidding on an older queen imitation winterbottom canoe, with a canoe etch. That fred bear etched knife sure is cruising around in my brain but i jjust cant place where i seen or heard of it , i hope he finds one

If you really wanted the knife on ebay, and would have bid higher and paid more if given the chance as you say, you should have entered a higher maximum bid. Most of the bidding on items on ebay is during the last few minutes, that's just part of it, but if your maximum bid is high enough, you still win. Seems simple enough.

rember a sniper has only one shot and if you bid with a high enught reserve you still win! so dont bid as a invester, do you recall base ball cards?
you bid what it is worth to you and if it is worth more to me so be it and if it is not worth that much to me fine you win!!!!
not every one dont read the rules
and the 5 minet rules and such allow for a more evil shilling to go on
think of it like a government auction... sealed in an envlope and high bid wins,. some put the bid on the outside of the envlope
and sometimes i dont bid because it is already out of what i will pay...
bid ONLY what it is worth to you to have and let go... if you are at work oh well you can buy a program that will do it for you other wise the anaxity will give you heart burn...

I had a knife on ebay that sat for three days at $750 (my reserve) then went to $970 in the last 15 seconds! God bless snipers, of which I am one on occasion!
By the way, I know that sniping has saved me loads of money, because I saw the same people bidding me up when I was in the auction, when they figured out what kind of knives I was looking for! God curse shill bidders to that other place!!!

hi, amos iron wolf, the reason i asked if thats the canoe you were after its because i was the seller, and it was contrary to my so,so,picture brand new condition.the reason im writing is their a guy down in kentucky who has alot of these 70s,80s, queens, including a couple more canoesyou will see him in knife world alot, and as for the buyer i see the person buys and sells alot of queens and i shipped to tidoutte pa.right ndown the road from titusville home of queen..If i run across any more of these canoes ill let you know.

Before I write this message, I first want to state that my username has nothing to do with ebay bidding tactics. A Snipe is a type of small sailboat. Our family has owned Snipes for almost forty years. I actually changed my ebay usnername because it dawned on me what it meant in ebay terms.

That being said, like most, I do not bid until the last moment. I don't use a program, but do it the old fashioned way by checking my wristwatch against the official US clock. I learned from my first bidding attempts that it made no sense to show your hand by putting in early bids. The only time I put in an early bid is if I will not have access to the computer at the close of bidding. If you put in your bid too early, it just leaves the door open for someone to bid higher. I have found that some people with bid higher because they really want to win the item, but I also know some people do it just to make sure you have to pay more. By bidding at the last second, I protect myself from getting emotional and trying to outbid the other guy no matter the cost. I only get one shot this way. I bid what I am willing to pay, no more. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. With the rules of the games as they are, it only makes sense to play it that way.

Thanks. Waynorth tossed a swell end jack in that configuration in a package to me once and I fell in love with that little knife. Great walk-n-talk, excellent carry, and a good blade. It was my EDC of choice for work. Lately, a Delrin handled Boker canoe in 1095 has been keeping me company, but the Queen is still my other work EDC. A similar canoe would be just a sweet companion piece for it.

And to keep things Schrade, last night on eBay I picked up another end of days, 505SC, plain handled, large stockman. I have one and it's very well made and nicely sharp as it came. It managed to rekindle my appreciation for the stockman pattern, which I'd lost interest in for a while. My standard carry years back was a 44OT until I broke the tip off digging a .22 bullet out of a tree. I sure wish I had one of those today. I understand they are a bit rare.

I think I'll make it a habit of picking up these 505SCs whenever I can get one for under $20. Great knives worth building a small stockpile of.
