I'm looking for a 5/16" thick Busse! It could be a Mean Street or a Badger Attack, but I would consider any of the discontinued models. Let me know, Ron......

Interesting conversation with Andre DuMochel on Saturday: He told me every batch of INFI varies a bit in thickness. He showed me two small Busse knives that were substantially different in thickness. One did look pretty close to 5/16" Based on that, I'd suggest you keep looking, and just look at a lot of Busse knives. That can't be too unpleasant, now, can it?

I think that explains why my SH E weighs significantly more than what the Busse website lists it should. I thought it looked a little thick...I'm glad it is, actually!

I have to agree with you, Andrew. I just put a vernier caliper on my straight SH II (can't seem to find the 1" micrometer right now), and I get 0.265" just ahead of the handle. I suppose the coating is a little of that, but it explains why my eyes and hands were telling me the new crinkle finish Steelheart "E" that Andre DuMouchel had on the table seemed just a tad thinner.

The scales of the E handle that I held were made a bit smaller than the tang, so the curving metal projects back into the user's hand a bit more than does the micarta. Probably done in response to complaints by folks with small hands, and not uncomfortable, just different.

Since I don't do a lot of chopping with a knife (even though it's nice to have one that can chop), I think I'm perfectly happy with my straight handled SH II. It really was cruel of Andre to tell me my knife has doubled in value, so I should pop another $297 to get a new E-handled "beater knife."
