On canoes it's really awkward to send something to a person sitting on the back from the front. I was woundering if anybody had a recommendation for a waist pack. I'm looking for seomthing similar to the maxpediton proteus, but I'm not sure if I want to spend that kind of money yet.

I don't care if it's leather or nylon. I'm looking for it too hold one of those little 8-cubby plastic fishing kits, you know, like a small dont wanna take the whole takle box thing. Some fire kit supplies, and a modest sized fixed blade. I want small backback carry space in a fanny pack typer package.

don any of you know something like this?

Target or Walmart have some cheap ones that are better than the knockoffs. I bought a bunch of knockoffs and they have no belt and are just okay. Send me your address and I will give you one of my extras.

I bought the Max Ped Sabrecat and I recomend spending the money on the Proteus. Absolutely top notch gear....

Anyone have a picture of these walmart packs of which you speak? I want a Snugpak or a Maxped but can't afford them at the moment and the nearest walmart is 40 minutes away.Do they come in OD green? I'd hate to drive all the way down there in my gas guzzler only to find that they only have neon magenta and teal with an Ace of Base logo. :D

Search www.walmart.com
Note: "waist pack" and "waist bag" get different results.
I saw some neat waist bags that weren't hunting gear. Didn't see any hunting stuff sold by local store.
You can have some items sent to local store w/o shipping charge.
Sometimes different Walmart sell more camping stuff than other Walmart.
Chaps me big time the Walmart 40 miles away sells more camping stuff than my local one does.
Most of hunting stuff now sold at local Walmart is camo fleece. Usually wait till season change to pick stuff on clearance.

hows about a GI belt with a 5.11 Medical Pouch on it, chock full of Survival goodies?

one could add two or three of these very well made yet inexpensive pouches and have a great waist kit.

Mine looks like a Proteus in olive drab. The Walmart ones are under 20 bucks and have 2 water bottles. No pics since I'm on my phone.

Did you ever go to Hooters restaurant and watch the waitresses sling orders fromone side of the room to the kitchen? String a piece of cord tightly from the seat in the front of the canoe to the back, and connect a small bag on a key ring to it. You can sling bait, lures, etc. to each other.

You might try a butt pack from the Army Navy stores, they are pretty good as a lumbar pack, and inexpensive.
