I'm a Bartender and where I work its damn cold behind the bar, we keep our kegs that are in use behind the bar in refridgeration units that sit on the floor and when my feet start to sweat and then when I'm not busy my feet are now wet and cold from the sweat and cold temps. I wear reebok classics now and they just don't cut it. I've had alot of recomendations for ADIDAS GSG9 ($199.99) and Danner (don't know what model). Are the GSG9's really all there cracked up to be? Are they worth the 200 bucks. I need warm well ventalated and very good traction. Comfort is a must and weight really isn't an issue. I'm open to any an all suggestions my budget is $250. Must be all black!! Thanks in advance.

I'd check out Hi Tec Magnums.Do a search, this guy that went by the name of The Tactical One on the forums here posted something about Hi Tech Magnums awhile back.Maybe those are the boots for you.He said they were black.

Sounds like you need an insulated, waterproof boot, which leaves the GSG9s out(although they are supposedly great for people who need to move quickly).

Danners uniformly get great reviews. Durable and resolable (vibram), they last for years and are supposedly very comfortable, too. They have a good website, www.danner.com , with many options(height, materials, style) available.

I have a pair of Hitecs, waterproof and Thinsulate lined, that have been a great value for the occasional wet and cold use, so they are an option too. OTOH I don't wear them every day, so it's not the best recommendation.

My suggestion--try eBay, too. Many bargains to be had for boots that might otherwise be a little expensive!

Ask your mother what kind she wears. That's what I did. :D :D

Personally. I have had great luck with Danner. Cabelas.com has ok prices.

The Adidas boots are great "tactical" boots, and lighter than true "combat" boots. The soles will not hold up nearly as well as a pair of Danners, but they are comfy!

Danners make a truly great combat boot, probably the best. Other good brands you will want to look at are:

Bates
Matterhorn
Belleville
Altama

Have you ever considered a good pair of hiking boots? I've got a pair of Merrells that get more pavement time than all my combat boots put together!

I would never ever wear any boot other than Danner again. The best made boot in the world as far as im conserned. I have an uninsulated pair. Totally water proof, i have stood in 3-4 inches of water, no problem. Warm but not so warm that they can't be worn indoors or in warm weather. (but warm enough in less than freezing conditions) They have many models and fit into your price range easily. I can't say enough about Danner boots.

DANNERS!
I have tried so many boots but Danners have ended up as my final choice.
They have a lighter weight version with leather and cordura or all leather. 8" or 6". All have waterproof gortex liners. You can get insulated or not. I love them. I have several pair. They last and can be resoled if that is important to you.
Right now the BEST/lowest prices I have EVER seen for these boots are at Botach.

Good choice! I have three pair of Danners. The 400 gram Acadia for winter, 200 gram Ft. Lewis for fall/spring and uninsulated
Acadia for summer duty. For 20 below weather I wear 600 gram Rocky Eliminators, all with Gortex.

I called cabelas and asked what they would recomend, they said Danner just liek everyone here so thats what I got should be here Monday if shipped tomorrow. We just changed our uniforms at work from white shoes/shirt with black pants to black shoes/polo and black pants. So I at least had a good reason to give the wife for a new toy. She didn;t like the idea of last monthes 1300$ watch purchase:rolleyes:

Great choice. I have the same. One uninsulated and one with 200g. Both for work.
You will be happy.
Keep them polished/protected on a regular basis with the Danner black boot polish. It doesn't put too much of a shine on them but keeps them looking good and protected.

I don't wear the same boot day after day but rotate them. They will last much longer.

Here is a link to the Danner Boot site that explains the care of the boot. Worth reading once.

Enjoy! http://www.danner.com/bootmakers_bootcare.asp

One note of caution: Lug soles that are great on the trail or in the field give you zero control or traction on hard wet surfaces...found that out the hard way.

I hope this is'nt too late...
Before you buy the Danner's, check out the Matterhorns!

I bought my first Danner's (the Ft. Lewis Go-Devil boot) in 1989 while stationed at...FT. LEWIS!
I loved them and I STILL love them today. They've been on Mt. Rainier, across Yakima, across NTC and Ft. Erwin (the Mojave), all over South Korea, all over Kentucky and the Carolinas, and even in Saudi and Iraq.
They are great.
But a friend of mine bought some Matterhorns and we compared them to the Danner's. The Matterhorns are almost exactly a copy of the Danner's except they have padding around the top of the boot and, best of all, they're less expensive than the Danner's.
As much as I love my Danner's I'll replace them (soon) with Matterhorns.

Good luck,
Allen.
