I'm looking to buy a BK16 but is the handle too slippery?

I don't want to have to worry about buying another handle as soon as I get the knife, but do you find the handle slippery?

I've only used the knife in dry conditions and I've never had a problem. I think the shape of the handle makes up for serious traction that you might get from something like micarta.

Never had a problem. You can put a light coat of bowstring wax on them if you do.

Nope. I've used both my BK15 and BK16 in butchering a pig. Both with factory scales and neither of them slipped even when wet or covered with blood.

One thing you have to consider with handles are the contours of the handle and the tang. Ethan designs his handles with a generous palm swell and contours. These contours will fill your hand and help prevent slipping because of it.

The zytel handles on the 16 and grivory handles on the big Beckers are very smooth but resist slipping due to their shape.

Even in cold wet conditions if you have a firm grip on the knife you will be fine.

Very well said. This is right along the lines of my thinking. I know some users like more grip, so they stipple or wrap the handle. Again, I've never had to stab into hard wood in a rain storm, but the handle shape has done its job for all my uses.

if in doubt buy the micarta handles...I never had an issue with the stock handles in any condition but the grippier micarta just gives me a little more peace of mind. Great blade through and through...my favourite becker ...well one of my favourite beckers, it's just so hard to choose just one
