Hey, I've been looking into buying a spring assisted folding knife just for EDC and light to moderate usage. My budget is anything up to about $50. I've been looking at some of the SOG assisted folders and I'm liking the Flash II but it doesn't come in a straight edged tanto. Should I just get the straight edged drop point? Please let me know if you have any other recommendations. Thanks!

Preferred:

- straight edge
- a blade shape that I won't have to worry about breaking the tip (tanto maybe?)
- 3" to 3 1/2" blade length
- thumb studs & flipper tab
- deeper pocket clip, reversible tip up and down carry righty carry (don't care too much)
- safety mechanism
- light weight
- very rust resistant

It's not a Tanto but it fits most everything else on the list : Kershaw Zing SS. I have one and love it. Here is the best pic I have of mine.

Thanks. This is a really nice knife. I will surely consider it. How do you think this knife would be with the Polyimide handle?

I think it would good but the SS handle makes it very thin. So you have a lot of knife with it not taking up a lot of pocket space.

Okay, thanks. My choices have whittled down to either the thermite or the Zing now. Perhaps ill get both. I have one question though. Does anyone know if the blackish that kershaw can put on the thermite is quality? I'm afraid of the stone wash finished blade rusting because i don't take excellent care of my EDC knives. If anyone has some info about the blackish finish please reply.

Kershaw Knockouts are such awesome AO knives in that price range. Get one. You won't regret it..
