I'm still trying to learn but it's been fun so far. But valuing what I find is still out of my league.

It is not appropriate to discuss value as you are not a gold member on the forum (Forum rules).

Pictures would be nice.

Oh sorry, I did not know there were different tiers to discuss things. So, I cant ask about values? How do I go about finding out then?

Thank you Tony.

Driving while photographing knives... Was that done on a closed track, school zone, freeway or (I am out of guesses).

Good photos, well-lit, in focus, captured the tang stamp, you were more than able to reveal the gold etching's beauty AND the detail in the layered bolster = bravo.

Two attractive knives. Is there a story associated with their acquisition?

Welcome to the Buck forum w i turner.

Haha oregon, I was actually sitting in a parking lot.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos.

Unfortunately there isnt a good story behind these two. I've collected guns for a while now, but few weeks ago decided I wanted to get into knives as well. Was traveling home from work, seen a small pawn shop tucked in a strip mall. Pulled in, these we're the first two I bought. I also picked up a 1991 Case and a Gerber touche Belt Buckle knife.

But these two caught my eye first, so they are the start of my collection. I've always liked buck knives but honestly always carried around the china made versions.

Just read the link oregon. Sorry for violating forum policies, I understand. These are def. NOT for sale. Do I just need to change the title of this post?

Some of the fellas here have had terrific luck with pawn shops. I had some but mostly dry holes. You have hit pay dirt. I am beaming from the General Forum buckle I see you posted there. WOW! Beautiful. You have better pawn shops in your neck of the woods than I have here in Oregon. Do you mind me asking where abouts, state, region, country, you located said shop? I am now hungry for the hunt. What you did!

Please do so that you quite the blood lust of the moderators and their minions who go after violators. This puts you into good graces and lets us all want to embrace you into the brotherhood of the blade so that we can help, admire, kid, joke, etc.

I'm in South Carolina. This particular pawn shop was in northern part of the state near a very wealthy neighborhood. Which honestly is the reason I stopped in, it surprised me to see a pawn shop in that area.

Spurned wives doing a partial pre-divorce settlement on their own perhaps! I've seen this before, unfortunately. Married man asks, "how can I chop the wife out of my wealth?" Married woman doesn't ask for any how to, she already knows because her Mother showed her years ago how to C.H.A.

Also, if I buy a gold membership I can then ask about values?

Yes.

It also give you personal email. Talk on back channel directly with members.

It also gives you ability to sell on Bladeforums selling forum. You make up you own mind here. I cannot vouch for or against.

It gives you knowledge that you are funding something that you believe in. Enabling it to go forward. For example: Something Sparks, the owner of Bladeforums.com, allows me to do is fight against FAKE BUCK KNIFE SELLERS http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ckoff-Buck-Knives-amp-Americans-Who-Sell-Them

Nice knife. Really nice knife. Finding that in a pawn shop has me turning the pages of my phone book (do they still make them?) to find one!

Wow! what a great start for your collection! My all time favorite knife was a 501 like that, but the bolsters were not so fancy.

Hi witurner,

Welcome to the Buck forum! Yes it is not ok to talk values until you upgrade to gold or higher membership. But, You can also search old posts for information on your BCCI knives.

In your photo's I see that the larger one is starting to be damaged by rust, you can see the orange color bleeding out onto the stag and what appears to be some pitting on the etched side pivot bolster. This type of damage affects the overall value. Nice score!
