Sorry Pete Parker, but despite how much longer you've been here, I'm the one trying to civilly mediate and moderate here. If you do not heed instruction from any mod on this site then dont complain when you are infracted.

I'm not aware anyone was being uncivil in here.

The OP was less than forthcoming about how this came to be and his timeline of his own actions.

He's been running around screaming and hollering about how he's been screwed. That's pretty far from the truth here.

I guess I've a low tolerance for bullshit. I've had guys do this with me. Sent them something that was fine, then a few days later a problem occurs.

It's a very simple fix as you say - once you tell me it's ok, it is yours.

Now as for your statement about an infraction and your moderation - you seem to confuse me with other folks who are concerned about your mod status. This is the Good, Bad and Ugly. It is a free-flowing forum and you're hardly the only one here with a clear or civil perspective on this matter. You also were lacking in facts which I was bringing to the table for you, and Slug finally decided were germane.

I rather doubt you'd speak to me as you would a four-year old in real life, so please refrain from such behavior here.

Anything else on this particular topic, we can address it in PM's.

Nobody's backing off anything Karda.

I've been a member here in good standing for nearly a decade longer than you, Mod or not. I'm not going to shush up because a moderator says so.

This guy's been acting as the royal douche in two places on the net now, maybe others, over something he said was fine. Still is by the look of it.

How is calling each other "douche" in thread not uncivil?
I was addressing that aspect of the thread and the uneeded commentary.

It may be a free flowing forum but it also has rules. If you fail to heed the rules or a moderator's instruction, Sass a moderator....Etc. It is not the moderators fault, but your own. I don't feel i addressed you in an untoward manner and would speak to you the same way IRL under the same circumstance.

I think its time I ask this question as its been burning inside me for years:

At what point in a thread that a Mod is participating in as a member does he become "the" Moderator of said thread again? What I mean is that if a Mod is voicing opinion, taking a stance, maybe even taking a side should he not be using his Mod powers in said thread and there be another Moderator to maintain law and order?

There have been times, none in particular, where a Moderator should have moderated a thread OR participated in a thread but not both and I wonder if this is a good thing, bad thing or something that someone in authority is saying STFU.

Ira, I think it's a good thing (generally speaking) for a moderator to recuse himself in a situation where he is a participant in a thread and the part that gets contentious involves him and/or his posts.
(On the other hand I think it's okay if he acts judiciously where it does not smack of self interest.)

In the past when I have found myself in a situation approaching your example, I normally send a PM to Gus and Esav so that they can weigh in as needed and leave any hint of impropriety out of the mix.

I've had times when I was moderating and realized I was implicitly leaving an opinion, but when my moderating becomes overtly "disciplinary" I switch to font size 3 to distinguish the seriousness of it from the conversational opinions I may have expressed.

Fixed that for you, Esav. ;)

Thank you gentlemen. You two truly represent the very best and just as I figured it would be you two that would comment!!!

I think you answered my question and you most certainly take the position that I support in totality.

Thanks for your responses, Happy New Year................

Thank you, for the good words and the many years of support.
