After Ron told me about the powerlock, I finally had a chance to handle one, and to decision to buy take less than 2 minutes.
It opens smoothly, and it definately has the power on the pliers. I swear if I really try I could actually use the pliers to crush one of my fingers or something like that (I like them intact). I use it to crimp on a particle board and it just gave way without serious pressure, the Leatherman Juice definately couldn't hold up, and I'm not expecting much from a regular set of needlenose to have a similar effect anyways. All the tools lock, which is an improvement, and now the last thing to test is to see whether the screwdrivers are properly harden, as I've yet again wrecked the small screwdriver on my leatherman Juice... apparently they don't seriously harden those things and leave them quite soft.
The leather sheath is very nice, but the only thing I wish to have on the sheath is to allow horizontal carry (while using leather or kydex). Its size would definately make it jab into me when I sit down, as I've aquired a beer gut.
Great job, Ron, you guys built a very nice piece and I definately love it. The one hand opening was so addictive that I repeatedly flip it without applying some lube. Apparently some metal pieces were heated up and expanded enough to slow it down :p a good sign of very tight tolerances indeed. A little white lightning loosened it up quickly.
I gotta go to sleep and quit babbling ;)

Glad you like it, I absolutely love mine... both of them:D :D :D

If you really want to carry it horizontally, contact our friends at SOG and they might be able to set you up with a nylon dual mounting pouch for it...

Until then, keep flipping, but don't flip out!

You mean it took over one minute to decide? I'm disappointed with you! ;)

I can't tell you how pleased I am that you like your new PowerLock. That opinion will not change!

As for the screwdriver tips, not to say they won't tweak (hopefully they'll tweak less), but just image our alternative to the competition. You give us a call and tell us what you've broken. Usually you purchase the part (unless the part prematurely failed) for a nominal fee and we mail it to you. Then you install it, taking about five minutes with tools almost every guys has in his garage (or tools his dad, uncle, neighbor, etc. has). Our tool can be completely disassembled for cleaning, maintenance, and simple repair (and this disassembly does not void one's warranty...unless it is seriously botched or the tools is altered). Not many other multitools can boast that!

We do have a dual mounting nylon pouch that we sell for $8.95 that is available as an aftermarket accessory. Retail sales are available by calling 888.SOG.BEST or 425.771.6230, ext. 240 or for more information about retial sales, email your questions to retail@sogknives.com.

Use the PowerLock in good heath and give us updates as you have a chance to "put it through the paces."

Hehe,
even a regular pair of pliers don't fair well.
A friend of mine likes it ;)

Surpassing my LM Wave would be a tall order! If its as great as you say, I'll have to pick one up and see for myself! :D

The compound leverage on this baby will crush that Wave into tiny little pieces!! ;)

Well maybe not quite...but I wouldn't bet againt the TiNi version been able to do it!!

honestly though...I actually don't even own a powerlock but I do have a crossgrip and I'm still very impressed at the strength and power that compound leverage is able to deliver with minimal force.

CALYTH, youve just aquired one of the best production tools on the market ive got a paratool & tool clip, when i used to carry a multi tool daily SOG NEVER LET ME DOWN. Out standing products!. ,proud sog owner DAVID:D

Damn right ;)
Talk about the tool really giving you the confidence.
Yes the Wave don't fair well, I've just compared it today at the local knife store.
The supertool 200 isn't that much better, IMO.
Unless you loosen the pivot on the Wave, I've yet to see a multitool open as smoothly as the Powerlock. And it's very sturdy too!

...I got my SOG TiNi Powerlock. :D

I carried the Wave, before my SOG, but I never grew accustomed to it. IMO, it was just too lightweight for what I needed to put it through. (I am a truck driver and occasionally have to put my multitool through some REAL work.) Once I got my Powerlock, I didn't even look back and traded the Wave off with a fellow BF member.

This TiNi Powerlock is, by far, the TOUGHEST tool that I've ever used. Even compared to my old SuperTool, it far surpasses the LM with that awesome Compound Leverage. I won't ever need to buy another multitool again. :D

Thanks for a great product, Ron and SOG crew. ;)

I wish the local knife store would restock Crosscut. I think my mom won't mind it much.
I really dig the compound leverage on the powerlock. Definately a great idea.

...Me either, now that as of tomorrow (Monday), I'll have a Powerlock, and another Paratool on the way to me from another trade. (I say good-bye to my REKAT Carnivore, but it's worth it for 2 SOG multi-tools!).:D.

No, I'm not really a "collector", but with all this SOG steel hangin' on my belt, I guess I had better not go too close to any deep bodies of water, lest I fall in and rapidly sink to the bottom.:D.:D.

Isn't that the Tigershark's REAL purpose; diving weight?:D
I didn't start out as a collector either...

"I'll just get the ones I really like..." - famous last words...

I received the SOG PowerLock (and Paratool) today from the trade I made a couple days ago, and now my Leatherman Supertool is going to have to find a spot in my knife-drawer, as the PowerLock is taking its' place on my belt...This SOG PowerLock ROCKS, and I sort of even feel bad that it has taken me so long to get one, as I had been missing-out on a GREAT multi-tool...The PowerLock IS the BEST of the breed!!.:).

Ron,

It was really nice, and a pleasure, to talk with you on the phone today!...I really DO think of you as a friend, and I look forward to when we get together "in-person" over a cup of coffee, to talk about SOG products, etc.!.:).:).

...And it's an honor to be known as "SOGman99"!!.:D.
