For a while. I just don't see the need for it. I have 70+ knives and edged tools and might use 10% of them on a regulare basis. Rather wanted an RC-4 or RC-6 but my Izula, Western L36, Western F48A and Becker BK-9 do most anything I need a knife to do. BTW I use these 4 knives in the kitchen all the time. Hope you guys at RAT don't mind me using other peoples knives along with yours.
The Western L36 has a 5" Clip point blade of modified 1095 Carbon steel with stacked leather handle. It's 3/16" thick and full flat ground with a convex edge. It's a great camp knife IMO. The F48A is less then 1/8" thick, 4" Long with the same steel and a stacked aluminum/plastic handle. These two knives have cut move steak, chicken, roasts and veggies then even my beloved SOG Seal Revolver. On campouts even if I'm not wearing them they are probably stashed in my pack or in one of my grub boxes.
Here's some pictures of my 3 main blades:
I grew up on a farm using knives to cut bailing twine, trim hooves, cut branches and all kinds of things. Used a Khukri or two to cut bones for the dogs and dig holes when I was feeling lazy and didn't want to walk back to the house for a trowel. All I ask for is a good quality knife and I'm happy. Those two Westerns and My Izula are definantly that.
Love hanging out in the Rat forum cause I learn survival skills and about cool Machetes.
