I'm not going to be able to make it to Blade this year...

Hi folks,

There's a number of reasons why, some personal, some I can share. The ones I can share are:

1. The knives just aren't cooperating. I've finished 2 that I think are good enough to use for my JS judging, but in the course of trying to make 3 more, I've rejected about 6 blades, for various reasons. At this point, I don't have time to make more. And I'm not going to take knives that don't meet MY standards.

2. Construction is supposed to begin on my new shop, right about the same time as the Blade show, and I really need to be here for that.

My apologies to anyone who is disappointed. I wish it would have worked out, but, it's not. And I was really hoping to meet many of you. I'll try again next year.

I'll see about having my dealer take some of the knives I've finished to the show, so at least y'all can see some of my knives, if not me, this year.

Phillip

I for one was looking forward to meeting you,
You will be missed.
Jim
Good Luck with the new shop,

Well, I am disappointed that you won't be there but you have no cause to apologize - you have to make the call that you feel is the right one on the readiness of your test knives and nobody else is in a position to second-guess that one. I do look forward to catching up with you down the road and will look out for the knives you send.

Roger

Good luck with the construction of your new shop, Phillip, and best of luck to you and your endeavors.

I am VERY disappointed, Phillip. I looked forward to seeing you again.
Let me know when the first Hammer-in is, and I'll be there. You're only about a three and a half hour motorcycle ride away, so if you have a good cook-out this summer, let me know.
You gonna have a bathroom in that place? A spare bunk room?
I'll bet 10 bucks the knives you rejected would have passed...........

I feel bad that you can't make it as it was one of your goals that you set earlier but I think you'll be able to appreciate it more when you can say you were able to do everything on your terms and standards and it all worked out. However, I'm not able to attend too so I'll look forward to maybe meeting you next year.

Bummer Phillip - I was looking forward to meeting you. Are you sure you don't want to come down anyway? Blade is always a good time, regardless of whether you have knives on your table

Bummer Phillip ... . My exact sentiments! Was really looking forward to seeing you again and continuing our discussion on a second knife. You know what's best, however, and I will look forward to hopefully seeing you at the Ohio Classic in the fall.

Paul

Phillip, Like I said, I would be happy to send you back your recent 10 inch W1 Ironwood Bowie. The blade is really very good. So are fit and finish of the handle. Just let me know. It can go out Monday.

Say everyone else, what do you think? Would this pass the JS test in your opinion?

You will definitely be on the invitation list to the first hammer-in. The builders keep delaying, so it may be summer before I move in. :grumpy:

Wulf, I was looking forward to meeting you too, and tormen- er, I mean, hanging out for three days. :D Next year. :)

Keith, I appreciate the offer, but I don't think the ABS would allow the chute knife, since the edge bevels weren't forged in. I could be wrong about that.

Thanks also to Ralph for offering his knife. If it weren't for the fact that there are other reasons why this year won't work, I'd jump on it.
