I'm new to the forum but have always had a great fondness for knives. All production stuff though. A handful of slip joints, the obligatory SAK, a couple of Bucks for camp and an older Delica (molded pocket clip) that's been my edc as long as they've been around.

So what's the problem? Well, I just received my very first "non-production" knife from Lamont Coombs. Sweet little neck knife. I can't tell you how much I like this silly little thing......it just feels different than anything I've ever bought down at ye 'ole Bass Pro Shop before. Does that make sense? There's no way that this could become some kind of nasty habit, or anything.......could it?

BTW, thanks Lamont!

(I think)

I am sorry to break in to you the BAD news... it will become a nasty habit! Just stick around and be a witness to your own transformation:D

BTW, congrats on the new knife and.... welcome to the forums!

Best wishes,

It is a virulent disease. Run now while you can!

Too late!

It's a nasty habit for sure. The good news, there's no reason to stop buying production knives just because you've discovered custom makers.

You think new alcoholics stop smoking?

You're doomed. Make peace with the idea now.
Start racking up Brownie Points around the house so the Significant Other won't freak when the UPS truck starts showing up all of the time...

Puff Puff, Cough Cough, Glug Glug. Welcome to the club. Anyone know of a 10-step program for knife knuts? Always remember, never drink and sharpen at the same time. If you're in a group of knuts, make sure someone is appointed as the designated sharpener.:D

The good news is that it is not entirely too late for you yet. All you have to do is start smoking crack instead.

It depends on the direction you go. I've been given lots of slip joint knives and they've all gone right into a drawer. It's only when I bought a good quality locking blade that I got interested.

Personal tastes will determine your direction, but there's a lot out there. I'd never spend as much for a knife as I would for a gun, but you can even go that far. This board can prevent you from going down some bad paths and keep you away from some bad knives.

Welcome to the Forums, it is a disease and addiction all at the same time, one is never enough, I have spent enough bucks on knives that I could have retired years ago, but the habit must be fed.:D

Can we see some pics in the tradtional section? I'm down to four slippies right now, and I need some inspiration.
