...but my family could use some good thoughts and wishes. Monday my mother in law was admitted to the hospital after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. My wife and I are here trying to help as we can, but at this point it's up to her strength and the will of the universe. The good news is that she's past the most dangerous period of time following a stroke, but she's still got a very long way to go.

Any and all positive thoughts, prayers, smoke, or whatever you deem to send along are appreciated.

I will say a prayer for her. If this helps, I had a stroke about 5 yrs. ago and did the thearpy thing and am just about back to normal. My memory is not as good but, there is hope and I hope all will turn out fine.

I hope all the best to your MIL and your family. She'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks guys. We just got back from the hospital for the day and she had a really good day today. It'll all be baby steps, but she'll get there.

I wanted to post a quick follow up and thanks to people for all the positive thoughts. It's been 2 weeks now since my mother in law had a hemorrhagic stroke. She's been exceeding the doctor's expectations consistently. She doesn't seem to have any real loss of motor function, no paralysis, etc. She's still having some issues getting her thoughts out, but physically she's doing great. Yesterday she got up out of bed by herself (the nurses weren't big fans of this maneuver mind you... :) ) and even fed herself dinner! All of these are huge steps and apparently a good bit ahead of schedule. She'll be headed to an acute rehab center tomorrow so that they can start really working with her now that she's stable.

I'm back home, my dogs are back home, but my wife is still away. She's going to hang out until her Mom is back at home and can handle her day-to-day life without assistance. We're all feeling very fortunate right now...fortunate and grateful....

Not sure how I missed this thread. Sorry to hear the news Deker and I am glad things are getting better. You and your family will be in our prayers.

On a good note, I just heard from my wife that they are moving her into a rehab facility right now. This is definitely another step in the right direction.

Thanks again for the good wishes folks,
