I'm now the proud owner of a Kershaw Blackout

By the way,

what are these two lil black things that came with it? They look like spacers or something... the manual says nothing about 'em.

The Whirlwind I bought had a black plastic U strip that covered the serrations. Is your blade serrated? Is the strip the length of the serrations? Is it U shaped or did the serrations cut it in two?

The small black plastic cover on the blade is there for safety reasons so you don't run the risk of cutting yourself as soon as you open the the knife for the first time.

Naah, I got the plainedged variant, and no they aren't curved, but I noticed that through strategic placement I could render the blade quite safe, fine for display - but i've little actual use for em.

Just remember not to follow through on your opening and you'll be safe. I almost sliced the $H!T out of my thumb today with my Avalanche, luckily my thumbnail stopped CPM-440v from going through :D

Heh heh, i haven't had follow-through accidents yet.

So when such a time may roll around that I want an even better Kershaw.

Avalanche or Black Boa?

Disreguard price and just tell me which you like more and why.

BOA!

Cool recurved blade shape, very comfortable handles, and the highly addictive flipper. It's a great little knife. My wife has the multicolored one and she loves it. (people think the colored handle is cute - they just don't know how much of a hurtin' she could put on 'em with that thing!)

I suggest the Boa. The flipper makes the Speed Safe very much like a legal switchblade. Also the flipper takes away the possiblity of cutting yourself when you open the knife.

Just got the Scallion and I must say it's a neat little playtoy! But I've dropped it at least twice upon trying to one-hand close it. It slips backwards out of my hand toward my belly. :) Kinda slippery handle, I guess.

Love the flipper extension, and would like to get a multicolor Boa someday...
