Eric B.,

As I suspected you are one of those people who are really
not worth the time to deal with. I thought this forum might
be an interesting sideline that included adult observations
and insights. I see you are capable of neither. You missed
my points entirely, as many like you might. Don't bother to
respond to this. I won't be returning. You know what to do
with your sarcasm and where to put it. Immature little clicks
are not my scene. Time to grow up.

Good advice. Maybe you ought to practice what you preach.

I might be talking to someone who says they aren't coming back but that's a cowards way of a comment. Hit Eric B. with insults and then leave. Real grown up.

If you were to look around you'd see that a lot of us here have a sense of humor (GASP!!!!). It's pretty good to have. You should try it sometime. You might smile a little and enjoy life. You are blowing this thing way out of proportion.

If you want to leave, FINE! Take your attitude with you please, but you'll be missing out on a lot of good info and enjoyment. If you want to stay fine, I more than welcome you but you gotta to leave the block on your shoulder at the door.

Ross T.

I'm truly sorry to hear that.

Hello everyone,

Sharpseker here. Time to come clean. For my edc knives
I carry them in small zip-lock bags.
The result, even after
one year? No scratces or wear! Seriously, I have knives
from two years ago that look like I bought them this
afternoon. Is this going too far? Too obsessive? Probobly,
but it keeps them mint!
A small scratch in the blade can
depress me for a week! Somehow I knew you guys were the
only people in the world that would understand.
All the best. S.

You made a comment that many, myself included took to be "tongue-in-cheek" in nature.

You mention "my edc knives". In the commonly held verbiage of the forums, this has come to mean "Every Day Carry Knives". Did you mean something else?

For one to carry their carry knives is "small zip-lock bags" would amount to being ludicrous (again, my opinion only and I have been known to be wrong), hence the assumption that you were kidding. That is why Eric responded with his "Condom" comment. It was a play on concepts. You carry your knives is plastic bags to protect them, Condoms are "Latex (in most cases) sheaths that protect ones "edc" Penis from harm". The comment was actually humorous.

Eric also made a universal indication that his comment was meant in jest

:p

I find it odd that your comments come from a newer member to Bladeforums, particularly as you have a grand total of five postings, three of which are in regards to this matter.

Let me also put in my two cents worth in with regard to your comments on Eric. Eric is as fine a gentleman as your likely to find . . . on the Internet or not. Too bad you didn't spend a little time researching that.

Goodbye

EDC penis??? ROTFLMAO :D :D :D
That's the funniest thing i've read in a long time, is it waved??

Oh my!
We're reeeallly evvvil people 'round here

The original Thread, "Going too far?" Or whatever it was titled, I read, and thought it was humor and not good humor (just my opinion) so I did not post to it. Ahh...then the controversy erupted with regard to statements Eric made...

I honestly just thought the guy was joking...

Sharpseeker,

About 80% of the people in here, if not more, carry their knives as Last Ditch Weapons. Some of us carry them as Primary Defensive Tools because we cannot obtain a Concealed Carry Permit where we live.

So, personally, I could only take your post as "comedy" and since it was a busy day...I did not respond to it as it did not strike me terribly funny. Just me...

To me, if someone must keep the knife in such a pristine condition that they have to carry it in a Zip-Lok Bag...that's not an EDC, that's a Status Symbol that someone feels the need to carry in their pocket, but not use.

"EDC" carries with it the feeling of, Every Day Carry for Utility and/or Defense. Not Every Day Carry merely so I have it and cannot possibly hope to access it quickly in the event I need to use it.

To me, my Emersons are for things in life that you wish had never happened. They are for times when people might want to drag me out of the car, or take it without giving me the option of removing my Son from the car...

Or, if I am in an accident and I remain conscious, and I smell gasoline...I don't even have to fumble with my seatbelt release, I don't care if it is jammed, I'll cut the seatbelt.

Or perhaps I will reach back and instead of fumbling with a Car Seat my Son is in, I'll simply cut the seatbelt that secures the whole seat and pull him out seat and all...

Or, doing this for other people that are in accidents if there is a greater threat leaving them in the car. (You should never move an injured person unless there is the fear of fire/explosion.)

So, all of these things have happened to people, any number of tragedies can be averted with a simple pocketknife that opens with one hand and opens quickly.

So, that is my Personal Mindset and probably that of alot of other people in here. So the concept of restricting a High-Speed Tool or Defensive Weapon with a baggy is more than a little absurd to us.

Why carry something that is specifically designed for Speed and Ease of Deployment just to inhibit the attributes of the knife you are carrying?

It is with all of that in mind that you received blank stares and humor in return, because most of the people cannot possibly fathom that you were really serious.

By the way, it is not "click," it is "clique," if you are going to accuse us of being a Club of Arrogance (we're not), and you are going to take the time to do that, at least take the time to get the spelling right in the accusatory statement.

I haven't posted here in a while but I needed to add my 2 cents to this post

Without getting into a pissing contest, I have to definately say that Eric is definately a good guy. I really enjoy his posts; all of them. (Especially about poor Bear) I do believe that his comments were in jest.

Eric is one of the Usuals & would come to defend anyone regardless if he is a usual in this forum or not. He's the kind of person that I would have him over my house anyday.

Bottom line is that we're all here to have a good time. Heck, I've probably taken a beating or two in the past for posting funny/stupid comments. But it's all in good fun.

And where the heck is that little picture doo hickey that's suppose to pop up under my name. I guess I'll upload it again :)

For what's it worth, I thought Sharpseeker's frist post was in jest. I replied in jest(my attemped at humor was lacking as well).

When I visualize someone pulling a Zip lock baggy out of his pocket, unzipping, extracting a Emerson, cut with it, replacing back into the baggy, and then back into his pocket; If it's not a joke -- it must be someone who has some interesting compulsion issues.

Guess we'll never know....

-Seth

Hmmm...
Should I start carrying my SIG in a plastic bag? :p
Would that make it a level 4 carry?

David T my Man!

How the heck are ya? Good hearing from you! Been meaning to drop a line but you know how that goes!

I can second the opinion on Eric. One of the "Creme de la Creme!" Without him we'd never have our own Emerson Chat! Remember we welcome one, we welcome all! No one can be too weird for us! Anyone posting here will soon build up a thick skin because in my opinion we're all one happy family who happens to like Emersons, and no one is exempt from a cheap shot if one can get one in. - Right Leo?

Anyway, good hearing from ya David!

Hey Sniper......long time no speak. I saw the pic of you that John posted from the Blade Show. Man, did you lose alot of weight? Or maybe your mustache got smaller :) Hope all is well with you & your family.

Like you said. (Eric is a believer of this too.) We're all one big happy family. There's always quibbles within family member, no matter what family it is. Eric is one to go out of his way to help others. One to come to the defense of one taking a beating. One to speak up when someone else has been wronged. Setting up the chat room where I hear that they talk about everything from farm animals to yo-yo's. (Scary) That's what make him so special & a first class suspect.

So, Sharpseeker, I hope you stay. We're all here to have fun. Besides, we always need fresh meat in the forums. I may sell my customs one day & need a buyer. :) (That's a joke)

You know, if anyone is justified in being "Outta here" because he has hurt feelings, it should be John. He has definitely taken his share of lumps for the sake of humor.

I guess what sets us and Strider fans apart from the rest, are that we can recognize humor, usually, when we see it. Also, I have come to the conclusion that we are all "real men", not the touchy feely sort trying to get in touch with their "feminine side" (as opposed to Hollister getting in touch with someone feminine!). A lot of us do jobs where our feelings just are not important to doing it well, and doing it safely. Too bad there are not more MEN left.

Anyway, our doors here are open to all, but it takes a while to get used to us. If sharpseeker thinks this is a tough crowd, I don't think he could last through two posts on the Strider forum.

So, sharpseeker, we would be glad to have you back. You misunderstood some things, and we misunderstood some things. Live and learn, I guess. There are many here, myself included, who have had to apologize for things misstated or misunderstood, and there is no shame in that. If apologizing or asking for clarification is the only way we can continue to learn, then that is what we should do. Do not let a simple misunderstanding turn into a road block in your path.

I am sick (literally) and tired (literally), so I hope this makes sense!

HEY! Wait just a minute there BUB.

Hollister gets banged around for womenz. :D

If there is ANYTHING that you could possibly be teased about incessantly and not really be offended about, it should be your randy nature.

I'm going to be Kurt now, perhaps Frank and Ernest as well and state that I enjoy my Randy nature and Hollister scares me.

Oh, and let's not forget Ken either, he catches a wiff of Woolite in the cleaning section of a grocery store and smoke alarms signal. :p

:barf:

Sharpseeker,

It is your good fortune that this is a forum (where one can hide their inadequacies) and not a face to face social setting. For, if it was, you would most assuredly, find yourself on your A**! :p

You do not waltz into a forum/room and disrespect a member of that group, simply because you don't approve of their humor. A person assimilates themselves into the group and THEN you may have a sharp tongue.

There are many wonderful, mature & childish (you grow old and die, we have fun) people who are regular members of this forum. Too bad for you, you are too sensitive to see this.

Good Day sir.

...no one is exempt from a cheap shot if one can get one in. - Right Leo? ...

That 'one' better not be a reference to my 'one bad eye'
:D

Note above...I've down graded ya....just in case ;)

ps. sharpseeker
Chill out!!....if you take the time to get to know Eric...you'll understand comments made were more than likely in jest :D

Leo:

Go ahead and downgrade me another 31 if you want. That leaves me as Cal .177 which I can shoot! Hell, I can't hit anything with that old .308 anyway!

What ya mean ya got one good eye? You better get rid of that seein eye dog then! And when ya going to e-mail me that photo of the gf that is minty, fresh, and unhandled that you're thinking of trading off? :D

Don't call him a .177 either...call him something really worthless by simply rearranging the numbers 308 to 380. Bwahhahahaha :D

Sharpseeker, step back and take another look. Then, look again.
It has been my experience that knife people are generally the nicest most giving folks you could ever hope to meet.

Where else will you find makers who are willing to give you tips on how to improve your knifemaking skills, even if that means your knife may, at a future point, be bought over his?

Where else can you ask about the most basic of skills (for instance, sharpening) and not be met with ridicule?

I post on one other forum, where ANYTHING goes, there is no PC attmosphere there, and if one is offended, he is instructed to perform impossible acts with himself.

Refreshing to say the least. You would NOT make it there. At all.

 :barf:

I agree, these forums are un-usually nice and civil compared to others that i've visited.
I like it here

I like nice and civil, up to a point. When someone is being rude, or immature, and will simply not listen to those who have experience, and are only trying to help, at HIS request, sometimes it is nice to be able to call em as you see em.
