I'm picking my first Emerson up on Monday

What a bummer! I missed the UPS guy! That means I have to wait until Monday. I bought a CQC-7 Tanto PL with Wave! I've heard and read alot of good things about Emerson Knives. I was going to get a HD7 but just couldn't swing it this time around. I'll bet I pick up another knife before the end of the month.

i think you will like the 7, great for edc. and i am hooked on the wave. i recently bought a 13 and traded for a 12. fantastic knives!

and ernie emerson is a first class man running a first class company. i got to meet him at the plaza cutlery show last month and he spent nearly 30 minutes answering my questions and my inquiries about the class he teaches.

never too busy to talk to anyone, his booth is always packed. he auctions off his customs with a drawing and reads the names and presents the knives himself. i didnt get one this time, but it was a sight to see!

btw, i have a bunch of cqc-7's, both emerson and benchmade. i dont think you will be disppointed.

Thanks Morimotom. So do you collect or are you a dealer? I was going to buy a HD7 but $250 was a little steep,this time at least! I may pick one up at the end of the month. I hear the same thing you said from others, these are top notch and the company is great.Pretty cool you got to meet Ernie Emerson and hopefully one of these days, you will win a knife from him.

collector. mainly busses and emersons. have some swamprats and doziers and other stuff.

the hd-7 is fantastic! 250 seems a little high, you can get them cheaper on ebay, closer to 200.

check out the cqc12, similar to the hd7 but larger. about the same price on ebay.

and if you ever get a chance to go to a show, do it. ernie is awesome, and the shows are the only place to get customs, he doesnt take orders anymore. he has a ten year backlog. you can get them online, but the are all over 1000.00. at the shows if your name is drawn, any knife is 550.00.

he will be at the nordic knives show, in april i think. check nordicknives.com
 
:D Morimotom is right, Ernie Emerson is top class. One of the nicest guys in the business along with his wife. I was lucky to get a CQC-11 at the Plaza show. Cut myself within 15 minutes of owning it so it is surely sharp. I own two Emersons and they are good.

WOW! This CQC7 is built like a tank! And does it have an edge. I'm very impressed with the overall quality and will surely buy more Emersons. I would love to hit a show ,but the April one will be out, our new baby is due in March so I will be busy. I may make one later in the year though. How do I find out where,when and who is going to the shows?

hey, congratulations on the coming baby!

you can check blade magazine, they usually have show schedules and you should be able to find one near your home. if you are only interested in emerson, call the shop and they can let you know what their schedule is.

the plaza cutlery show is every october in huntington beach. nordic is every spring in solvang. those are the only two i am sure of. i think he goes to the shot show in vegas as well.
 
I am not saying that I personally know Morimotom, but I will say that certain people were lucky enough to get a custom Emerson at the Plaza show. :jerkit:
 
Thanks guys.I'm excited about the new baby and it seems if it is a girl,I'll be ready with the knife collection when she starts dating!JK Sounds like a good way to pick up some rare goodies,I'll check a few shows out.This will also be a good way to get my fixed blade collection going as well.When I get a digital camera,I'll post some pics.I have a Sig P220 and a Custom McMillan sniper rifle I will post with the Emerson/Emersons!Thanks for all the help and support Morimotom and Corvus.This seems like a grat place to visit often.
