Okay, i understand everyones issues and preconceptions, experiences with Emerson, but im here because i have different experiences to share:D

I only carry EKI folders, and i think i know their draw backs and strong points too.

Only one of my 5 EKI's have blade play, small play side to side, but it does not problem to me. I found that the coat is more durable than most of the other companies, much more than cold steel or benchmade.

All EKI factory razor sharp. Sharper than my spydercos which is a great company famous of their sharp blades.

They arrive a hm..how to say: a bit puritan, in fit and finish, but im serving in the army, and al of my equipment is a but puritan, like the issued AK63 rifle. I like it this way.

I only had an EKI open once in my pocket, during sparring, it was my fault, im a krav maga instructor and i joined a training in street clothes and did not put my eki out, and after a few kicks it slahed about quarter inch my pocket. once again: It was my fault, i usually run climb jump with my duty carry cqc 8 in my pocket and never had any issue.

Eki has a tendency to the loosening up pivot, but who cares, fortunately they can beadjusted with my thumb nail and i dont need to a torx wrench, i also like it this way.

The only "issue" for me that they are liner lock, and i would prefer frame lock more. Thats the biggest drawbacks of every EKI's. But these liner locks are one of the best in the industry i ever saw. I trust em, i carry em for self defense and never had a single accident with them.

Sorry for the long post. Just my 00.2$

I'm another "pleased" :D EKI owner. No issues at all with blade play on any of the 14's I have owned, nor with my current 7B, and mini A100. I also never had a pivot loosen up on me, knock on wood. I adjusted the pivot's when I got the knives and have yet to, have to readjust them. I'm also not a huge fan of liner locks, but I do like the thicker lockside liner EKI is using, and lockup on both my current knives is excellent. I trust the lock on my EKI's as much as any other locking folder's. I've spent a lot more money on folders with "better" locks, that weren't even close to the lockup I'm seeing on my Emersons.
For the money I find EKI's one of the best bang for the buck folders. Yeah the fit and finish is a little rough, but the 7b is one of those knives I didn't mind taking out of the box and using it hard. My only EKI complaint is I would like to see some colors...like tan, green and camo...to spice things up a bit!

if you want colour, check out the snake 10s in ATACs camo when they are released!

I have been the owner of many fine folders and the Emerson CQC7B always ends up back in my pocket. Always. There's Nothing like a Emerson knife.

i bought a CQC-8 last year as one of my first expensive knives, and carried it really often, i sold it a few months ago and carried other stuff and i own two emersons with a third on the way, bought a Mini CQC-15 SF two weeks ago, CQC-14 SF last week, and a CQC-7BW two days ago...nothing else has been in my pockets since i bought the mini 15:D i dont really mine linerlocks and i find EKI's work very well and i have no doubts about them...i also love the fact that they are so easy to clean and disassemble:thumbup: next step, krein the 7 and im going to have custom scales made for the 14:D:D

I'm happy with EKI as of late. I first got into EKI back in 01 and had liner slippage problems with a Mach1, 2 Commanders, and a Min Comm. The waved 7b was the only one that didn't have that problem. The EKIs today are much better. The only EKI problem I have had as of late was the Super Raven B... Liner was almost touching the opposite liner right out of the box.

I own 6 different Emersons and I have no gripes about any of them. I also own numerous Spyerdos and have no complaints with them either. I own over 100 knives and my Emersons are my favorites.

One of my Emersons always ends up in my pocket.

Yeah I'm pretty pleased with my 6 or so Emerson's as well. The only thing I was a bit
disappointed with originally was the break in required before they would operate smoothly.
Now I realize this is the norm. Mine are all nicely centered within the scales and really I
have experienced no issues so far.

Figured I'd add a post to this thread after last night.

My newly-acquired 13 and I met in the park, under cover of darkness, for a secret tryst. She approached me gingerly, and as I produced my 6-in-1 screwdriver and slipped off her clothes, her liners glinted coyly in the moonlight.
When I got this one, in a trade, there was significant lock slippage. So, apart she came so I could see what was the matter.
Turns out that the liner wasn't pressing against the tang very hard, so she wouldn't lock up quite as securely as she should. 2 minutes later, I'd adjusted the locking liner a little by bending it a little more, and reassembled the knife, to find that BINGO: locks up like a bank vault.

I love Emerson knives. I took it apart with a common household tool, adjusted it myself, it works great, and after all that I'm still within the terms of the warranty (try that with a Benchmade and see what the CS dept. has to say to you).

I'm getting set to send a CQC-15 and a mini-commander to Krien for blade work. I'm quite pleased with the Commander I just got back.

I've heard a lot of folks talk about them coming back fro Krien "laser sharp," or "scary sharp." It wasn't. I suppose I was envisioning a razor edge, zero grind or hollow ground blade that would split paper from 10' away. It's not. I was concerned about the blade being weakened from a grind, thus destroying the utility of an Emerson knife.

Krien knows exactly how much to grind away; the blade isn't delicate and I'm not worried about it. It's functional, sharp enough, looks to be easy to maintain.

I've got quite a few to send, and I'll do a few at a time. When I spoke to him by phone, he indicated that he could remove the serrated edge and do blade profiles, and that he would remove the angle change on the CQC-15 to blend it from the tantoesque factory profile. I'm interested to see what he comes up with.
