I've asked a lot of questions and done a lot of reading about D2 lately due to the fact that I got the D2 Grippie for Christmas. I really love it, however I would like to know what this particular blade is capable of doing. So...
According to this site; http://www.crucibleservice.com/datash/ACFC3C.pdf?CFID=465912&CFTOKEN=33590122
which is the Crucible test sheet for various steels, shows that the D2 tested heat treated to 60HRC has a higher toughness than the M2 tested. Now correct me if I'm wrong but Doug Ritter and Benchmade put out a Ritter Grip in M2 which was intended for survival applications if need be. That would mean, from my assumption, that D2 is better for said application as well as moderate abuse in a dire situation, right?
I'm still trying to figure all this stuff out about toughness and all that but it looks, to me, that D2 is a good compromise for cutting tool applications, being that it is standard across the board in this test, not excelling but it seems that it performs consistently. This is my last D2 post I PROMISE I just like to know what the knife that I carry is capable of.
Sorry in advance if I've been irking everyone; I really apologize.
