I'm so over the use of 'bushcraft'! What a lame way to market stuff to folks that don't know better. I have seen every kind of knife, multitool, survival'esque stuff, etc, called 'bushcraft' to hock more wares. My solution: If it's called bushcraft, I'm not buying it. Anybody joining or objecting?

Hold on a sec, I'm trying to join, but I have to type a little slower on my Bushcraft Edition Laptop. It's got wooden keys and I keep getting splinters...

What if I'm getting tactical in the woods? Won't I need a tactical bushcraft knife? And how will I know what to look for if its not labeled, tactical bushcraft?

Whenever I see the term "bushcraft" it makes me think of creative ways to trim pubic hair.

Bushcraft to me is a style of knife. It makes me think of a wooden scaled piece of high carbon steel with colored liners and nice a fat grip. Just like "tactical" and black. I have NEVER purchased a knife based on a name. I go by materials, specs, and Blade Forum recommendations.
I'll boycott right along side you after my Blind Horse Bushcraft arrives tomorrow!
Chicks dig fuzzy sticks!!

Yeah Im sick of both BUSHCRAFT and TACTICAL. It is hard to stop the hype machine though, yay marketing! Just don't buy that stuff. While we're on this what about excessive camo? Anyone ever drop a camo hunting knife? Is it so the deer won't see you gutting them? Ive never understood it.

Overhere it's called "Common sense in nature".
We don't have the term Bushcraft in our native language at all.

I believe it originated in the UK and is a growing trend.

Basically I think it's a positive thing in contrast to the Tacticool trend.
People learn about nature and how to cope in the wilderness.
That is great as I see it.
This is why I can stand the trendy term Bushcraft.

Many in the buisness makes a living on the Bushcraft thing, but I have a hard time to see any problems with that.
What's wrong in making a buck on a generally positive trend?

Regards
Mikael

Better a bushcraft knife than tactical or ultimate.
One of my personal favorites is the Fiddleback Bushfinger.

Yeah, I pretty much agree except I would add that it should be scandi grind as well, all a matter of opinion though.

"Bush" to describe the woods/outback/wilderness seems more associated with Oz and/or New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. We would traditionally use "woods."

A boycott implies that you actually care what people call things. I think you have too much energy. Good weather will solve it all.
