I'm ready to buy high end....which one?

So I'm ready to try a high end expensive folder. My most expensive to date are my PM2, BM 940, ZT 0450 all around $180. I was thinking a CRK sebenza 21 large, or maybe a Hinderer or Medford? Which would you buy if you were in the market for one of these "Grail" knives?

when I use my money to make a purchase I do research then decide for myself. A knife is about you!

Why depend on others opinions? It's your money, I assume you worked for it. Do more research and get what you want, not what someone else thinks you should have.

I personally buy benchmade because I like benchmade (usually), I would probably buy a phaeton, or a gold class. It doesn't matter what I want to buy, buy what you want to buy. Do you prefer simple (sebenza), flippers (im guessing xm18), or medford, your choice although I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

the word GRAIL is subjective yet thrown around often. don't own a Medford nor will i, over priced and pointless. No Hinderer's either, although i like the looks. I do however own 2 Cr Sebenzas, 1 sm regular and 1 sm insingo. do i like them, yes. a
Are they grail for me,no. I don't care for the pocket clip placement and i have no use for landyards. the sm reg is put away because they no longer make that model, so on occasion i carry the sm insingo, in a sm sheath without the clip. btw, i am not overly impressed with the s35vn, seems a bit soft.
so for those reasons i usually carry benchmade or spyderco clipped, and a traditional stockman in the pocket

OP is just looking for a little guidance.....he says he's thinking about a Sebbie..so I'm thinking his price range is $500-600

I'll play.

I'd look at
anything CRK: Sebbie, Zaan or Inkosi
Koenig Arius
Grimsmo Norseman second hand (if you dig the blade style)

I'm sure others will chime in

and who's to say that a Sebbie can't be a grail? ;)

I'm new to knives and have things kinda narrowed down. I was just trying to get the feel from more knowledgeable who have owned examples of each, that's all. If you don't have any constructive input regarding my question, simply move on sirs....don't even wast your time

Don't get your panties in a wad. It's all in good fun.
I own several CRK's, two Hinderer's which are older generations. Never owned a Medford. My vote goes to CRK. Have you looked at Giant Mouse, Spartan Harsey Folders, Zero Tolerance, Emerson, or Three Rivers Manufacturing ? They're all good knives worthy of grail status.
I'm always on the hunt for the next grail knife, my next one will be a CRK 31 with boomer rang Damascus.

What works for others may not work for you.

Look at the knives that you have. The blade on a BM940 is quite different than on a PM2 - which one feels better in hand? Which blade profile works better for you? That is a start.

I find that the folders that I prefer all have a similar "belly" and blade height/length.

I've carried a Hogue 4 inch drop point EX01 every day since August 2015. It's blade was closest in profile to the Knife Research Rasul fixed blade that I carried every day for 14 months before that. This Hogue is an extension of my hand - it is hard to replace. The ergonomics of it check all of the boxes for me,

It is also priced low enough that I can break it, if needed. I have a spare ready. A Wilson Tactical Star-Light is on my radar, but, basically, the same knife as the G-Mascus model that I carry. Very light and very strong for its weight.

Look back at your favoUrite knives from the past....knives that saw a whole bunch of carry time....and find the design that worked best for you. If you choose to try something in a different style, I would suggest picking up something, lightly used, on the Exchange, before throwing down $400+ on something that may not "fit".

It's easy to get "Knife Poor" if you go in different directions, haphazardly.

Good Luck!

Thank you ajack60 for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Without being able to have them in hand, it's going to be difficult to really know which one will be the best for you. I certainly wouldn't want you to make a decision based on my recommendation just to find out that a CRK is not for you. Look at the one that speaks to you the most and go with that.
For me, Medford doesn't appeal at all. But, for you it may be all that.

Exactly, there are too many recomendations by people who have never owned one.
