Got my graduation gift last night of a small regular plain Sebenza. This is the most expensive and well put-together knife I've ever held, much less owned. Can't stop playing with it. :D

One thing, though. The thumb-stud's sharp edges are cutting up my thumb pretty well, so I just gotta wait for that to callus. The main problem is closing - I can't seem to do it one-handed. I think my opposing fingers are pushing on the framelock when my poor abused thumb is pushing the other way. So far I have to close it two-handed everytime. :( Will this loosen up with use, or is there something I can lube, or what? Awesome knife, but I can't knifesturbate with it very well as it is right now. :(

It will all work out in due time. Just keep playing with it on a regular basis. If you flick the knife open (bad, very, very bad!) it will be harder to close one-handed.

Ash - What you meant to say is that you got your first Sebenza. Trust me, they become rather habit forming. You'll likely be acquiring more (next, a large Classic, if I may make a suggestion) when funds allow.

Oh, and congratulations on your graduation.

Congrats Ash. I had a feeling you would go in that direction considering your comments in that earlier thread. Not only will the lock loosen up a little but you will become used to it and what amount of pressure it will take. You've got a lifetime to master that Sebbie. Just be patient and enjoy.

The thumb lugs on my new large plain do the same thing. It didn't do it before I sent it for double thumb lugs. It took CRK 2 weeks for them to install the double thumb lugs, bead blast the screws and pins, and repair the blade.

As I need the knife, I smoothed up the new thumb lugs with the white stone of my Sharpmaker. Some of the anodization is gone, but it no longer cuts my fingers, not as much anyway...

The thumb lug on the Sebenza is a different animal than those on other knives. Once you get the hang of using it, it will become second nature.

Well, my thumb has toughened up (it's been Axis lock only for a few months, must've gone soft  ) and I've figured out how to hold my fingers to close the lock. :D What a sweet knife.

There ya go. With time and practice that Sebbie will one day seem like a part of your hand. ;)

I love the thumb lugs, they really grip you like a hungry tick. I'd rather have them bite than slip. Keep practicing, you'll be able to close it one handed.
