I'm so relieved to know my Buck knife will not kill me....

I gave it some thought, and I can't recall licking or sniffing any of my Buck knives. Maybe I'm missing out? 😄
We're lucky there isn't a warning label telling us not to lick the blade.

That spec was probably meant for large panels. Out gassing of those in an enclosed room could be a health hazard. But is it possible to be able to produce any toxic concentration in something the size of a 119 knife? I doubt it. But I guess there is no provision in the standard for exemption based on size. Maybe there is a provision and Buck didn't have to do anything other than say they were compliant. Who knows? I don't have the motivation to read the spec. Edit: I just realized based on the size of some people's knife collections, maybe it is a good thing they are compliant. 😀

I did whiff the stag handle of a Buck knife some years ago. Bought it off eBay and must have come from a smokers home. It was horrible, so was the sheath. Stuck both in a gallon ziplock and dumped a boxful of Arm & Hammer in. This is the first I've thought of them in years, gonna have to search the basement and see where they got to. I never before understood or appreciated why some sale ads pointed out "from a non smokers home". In this case I imagine the cause of the odor was deadlier to the seller than me.

I've never been a smoker of anything and I'm an old man now. But it's funny when people who smoke think you don't notice. My mother-in-law was a closet smoker. The first time I met her I whispered to my wife that her mom smells like smoke. My wife said everyone plays along with the deception. I've received packages that I already knew were going to smell bad before even opening them. Did the baking soda thing work?

Here is a cut and paste of an old thread, so some folks may need to read that BS on the box, LOL.

Mav,

My old pal Goose even burned his tongue licking the melted cheese off his blade after slicing the pizza:D . So you see; he's not sarcastic. He was telling the truth. Ok Goose, how many slices of pizza before you have to put on a new edge?

LOL...I actually sliced my lip from the blade while licking off the cheese after I sliced the pizza first. I have found that I can dress about a dozen Tombstone Pizzas and maybe 6 thick crust DiGornio before I hit the sticks.

:D ...Yep...and after he noticed the half inch nick next to the burned spot he had to change band-aids every 10 minutes after he done that too...LMFAO... :p He keeps that blade "SHARP"...:D

Yeah, how goofy of me...looked like I had a cold sore. It was prob better for peeps to think that than to tell them I cut myself. In the words of Bugs Bunny..."what a maroon!!!!".

Goose.

Those little Bounce sheets that you put in the dryer with clothes work very well to remove smoke odor.

The smell of items from smokers' homes reminds me of the 1980's and my grandparents. It's actually nostalgic to me. Not the best smell, but reminds me of my childhood. I say, "smoke em if you got em"

I got a leather sheath in a deal one time that smelled like the Marlboro Man himself owned it. It stunk up my garage til I put it out in direct sunlight for a couple days. It kills the smell without a doubt, and sunlight’s still free as far as I know.
