I am beginning to save up some money for my first high dollar knife. (No, I wouldnt really consider my Griptilian a high dollar knife. )
I want a ZT 300. I think it looks awesome and I love how tank-ish it is.
Would this be a good decision?
PICTURES WOULD BE LOVED! :D
Beat-up-scratched pictures of a ZT 300 would be loved even more.

I also would like it to be known that I have never seen a ZT in real life, nevertheless even touched one. NO interaction in real life whatsoever.

you can never go wrong with an 030x series, they are indeed a tank... and a well built one at that.

The 300 is indeed a great knife, even better if you have big hands. The truth is I've never carried mine, it just tips the scales a bit too far to carry comfortably IMO. I also have the 550 and 561, I tend to go for the 550 because I think it's just the right size, wish it had a flipper like the 561 then it would be perfect. :)

You like those acid cigars? I tried the dirt torpedo from them, and liked it. Something different.

That's a great choice for a first zt!

Off topic, but I really like almost all of the acid cigars. The only downside is the looks you get from cigar snobs when smoking them.

On topic, the 030X is a great knife. An absolute tank and my go to blade for all my "heavy duty" needs.

I just sold mine. It didn't fit my hand very well. My middle finger gripped right over the bump just under the finger choil to the point where it was very uncomfortable when gripped tightly. That being said, I was super impressed with the lock up. It was SOLID, yet disengaged with such ease, like a feather. Very good. It was my first experience with a recurve blade also, it simply rips things to shreds. Another thing that really impressed me was how easily it carried. the ZT pocket clip is nice and tight and holds it very securely. Combined with such a large and FLAT surface area I found it disappeared in my pocket. If the ergos fit your hand, you won't regret it.

It would be a great choice. I'd check out the 0550 and 0560 as well before making your decision. The bearings are super smooth in the 0560/1 and is much lighter than the 30x and nearly if not as capable. I love the 300 though also. I carried an 0300 before the 0560 but haven't gone back. I'd suggest not getting in to the 0300 because you'll start wanting the very limited models! The 0300 USN is what started me collecting knives (oddly not the Blur!) and I'm now up to 10 of the 300 series. The 0300 gets pricey fast with some of them going around the $450 range when they can be found and if you get there before Jim!

Off Topic: I like the Acid Cigars, Ive had them all, Toast is my favorite, Kuba Kuba second(had one tonight). Nasty is nasty, hated it.

Off Topic: Acid are a nice easy smoke. The snobs do consider it a noob cigar. I dont care, I like what I like. If they say something Ill wait till I see their pocket knife then laugh at them.

On Topic: If I was going to have just one ZT, it would be the 0301 hands down. Ive dug with mine, used it like a machete, pried, stabbed, hammered, batoned, used underwater and its going strong. IMO its the biggest, strongest folder they make.

Just got my 301 and love it. feels good in the hand, opens fast, very sharp. Better than alot of customs I think. Don't beleive this one will be sold!

Isn't that the truth!

Bladeboss, let us know when you get one! Don't forget to check out Dave/Kershawguy for good deals!

both on topic and off. You won't laugh at me. I haven't tried an Acid, mainly because I have a family member that owns a Cigar shop and he has never recommended them. I see them at Specs, maybe I'll grab one and give it a shot.

the 301 is a great one, heck you may never need anything else. you can beat and beat on em. Love mine and it gets carried and used quite a bit, and it's in competition for pocket time with a 551, 561 and that awesome Kershaw Skyline.

I will. It's gonna be a while though. Probably around a month, maybe a tad bit longer. Nomatter how long it's gonna be, Ill get one if it kills me. :D

Before you seal the deal I'd recommend you check out both the old ZT200 (you stated you liked tanks) as well as the 560 and 550.

Got a 560 myself. Very happy with it but I also have a 300 coming in, in around a week from now. Will post a small comparison for ya when I get it. But from what people say the 300 is amazing. A week can not go by fast enough

Good Choice! My ZT 303 was/is my first high dollar knife too! You wont regret it. Right now I have a ZT 350 + Kershaw Storm for work, and a ZT 303 + Benchmade Griptilian 550HG for casual wear (outside of work). I havent used mine enough to have wear yet, but Ill post some pics of her all clean.
